ANNABELLE'S PERSPECTIVE

My brother lives in a city called Coldersplace in Canada. I don't. He's one of those smart people who knows how to do math-y and science-y stuff. Stuff I hardly know how to comprehend. So, he got recruited by some tech company in Canada.

But apparently, such a good  impression on that big tech company he's working for that they decided to move  my parents across an entire continent. So, imagine my surprise when one day, my mom and dad walked into my room and said : "We're moving to Canada!"

I didn't have the reaction they probably expected. I wasn't shattered , or even sad. The truth is, I don't really care. The only person wanted to say in touch with was Claire, and I could easily talk to her—she's chronically online. Social media, text, calls, whatever—it's like she never leaves my side. AND I heard Canada has Tim Hortons, and that's basically the promised land for coffee addicts like me!!

But, obviously, when the day came to pack up my life, I was hit with something unexpected. Leaving my house was harder than I thought it would be. Not the house itself, exactly—though I had my fair share of memories here. It was more like, leaving behind the space that felt like mine, the one place I could call my own. My room, the kitchen where we always ended up having late-night snacks, the porch where I'd sit and scroll through my phone while trying to ignore my thoughts.

This was the last time I'd be in that bedroom, the one with the light pink paint and the posters I'd stuck up years ago . The last time I'd see my kitchen—the one where I often, just grabbed something and ate it standing up. And the porch, where I could sit and eat.

And who knows, maybe in Canada, I'll finally get a boyfriend.
