Ira stepped inside the house and her gaze landed on the pair of dusty shoes that brought a warm smile across her face. She felt a sense of comfort and familiarity wash over her. Stepping out of her slippers, she felt the cool cemented floor beneath her feet and padded softly into the house.

She placed the copy and pen on the fridge, the magnetic surface holding them in place with a faint click. The sound seemed to echo through the quiet house, and Ira's ears perked up, tuning in to the murmur of voices coming from one of the rooms.

Her curiosity piqued, and she made her way towards the sound, her bare feet making barely a sound on the floor. As she entered the room, she was met with the sight of Nakul, his face breaking into a wide smile as he caught the sight of her.

Without hesitation, Ira jumped onto Nakul's back, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck. "Pranam Bhaiya!" she greeted, her voice filled with enthusiasm and respect.

Nakul's eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled, and he spun her around, holding her close to prevent her from falling. Ira's laughter echoed through the room, a bright and cheerful sound that seemed to fill the space with joy.

Nakul's voice was low and warm as he blessed her, "Khush rho, khush rho!" – a blessing for happiness that seemed to wrap around Ira like a warm hug. She felt a sense of peace and contentment wash over her.

Ira pulled away from Nakul's warm hug and skipped towards the bed, her eyes scanning the surface until they landed on Nakul's bag. She plopped down beside it, her hands diving into the depths of the bag with a sense of excitement. A smile spread across her face reaching all the way to her sparkling eyes as she rummaged through the contents.

"Mohanthal!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with delight as she pulled out a box of one of her favorite sweets

"Mohanthal!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with delight as she pulled out a box of one of her favorite sweets. She was about to pop a piece into her mouth when Vaidehi's hand shot out, slapping her wrist lightly.

"First bite for the God, then eat only," Vaidehi scolded, her voice firm but playful.

Ira's face fell, her lips pressing into a thin line in annoyance. But her disappointment was short-lived, and soon, she was smiling again. She carefully placed the sweet back in the box, her fingers sticky with the residue. She rubbed her hands together, trying to get rid of the stickiness, but Vaidehi was having none of it.

She slapped Ira's forehead lightly, making her jump in frustration. "What now?" Ira asked irritatedly in an exasperated voice.

Vaidehi pointed towards the sink, her eyes stern. "Go wash your hand properly. God knows when you will learn to behave."

Ira rolled her eyes good-naturedly and got up, trudging towards the sink to wash her hands.

The sound of running water filled the hall, and Ira's muttering could be heard as she scrubbed her hands clean. "Who wash hands every minute in this chilling winter?"
