Jungkook knew his father more than he knew anyone else in his family. Mr. Jeon would never ask for comfort even when he desperately needs it.
After all, unlike Jungkook, his father doesn't have a Kim Taehyung in his life. But he saw his father crying today. Not just crying, but sobbing, howling and bawling his eyes out.
His father would never do that infront of Jungkook and all the relatives standing there. Not after so many years passed by since Jungkook last saw his grandma in front of him. Since when did sadness become so strong to chew his father off like that?
Jungkook is not much different from his father. He has friends, hell he has the best friends anyone would die for but what will he do when all those messed up protectors of his life left him alone with no one to look up to?
It is not the first time he felt this way. To be honest, there was hardly any time he didn't feel this way. This unknown feeling of fright has been raised inside him ever since he left his family at the age of 15 and joined high school with no one by his side. Hope entered his otherwise hopeless lonely life when Kim Namjoon offered him a room in his apartment to share the rent.
Jungkook then spent the next few weeks of his life with Namjoon, Jin, Hoseok, and Yoongi. He would listen to "Rap Monster" writing lyrics at midnight before exams and rambling about his dream music studio where there would be enough space for him to write and compose his own songs. He would listen to Jhope talking about his dance classes and his new friend Daisy who seems to be the only girl following the steps correctly. And when he felt overwhelmed by the rapper and dancer, he would sneak into the bed beside Suga who never realized or even cared enough to realize who is in the bed with him as long as he can sleep without any hustle.
Jungkook never got time to realize how much he changed, or had to change due to his Jin hyung. He would wake up to find Jin snoring in the bed beside him, or blaming Namjoon to burn the frying pan when the food inside was not even cooked, or when Jhope returned from his dance classes 1 hour later because he was busy hanging out with Daisy or when at times Suga got too tired to even lie down and sleep so instead zoned out in the stairs.
Jin was the type of person who likes to be bossy when he himself used soap in his shower once a month.
But in the end, Jungkook was satisfied with his life because all four of them never forgot to put Jungkook first in everything. The youngest would get the thicker bread, bigger chicken breast, and larger share of rice no matter what. And even though Jungkook sometimes felt uncomfortable being treated differently, he would listen to them without complaints because they were his home.
Then Jungkook's life took a second turn , on a late rainy Friday night, as all four of them were cuddled on the couch (Jungkook getting an extra blanket as he needed to be warm even if Jin and Namjoon had to share one) watching a horror movie, there stood Kim Taehyung and Park Jimin, dripping in rain and their backpacks soaked, banging the glass windows of the four boys' house, barely not breaking them.
They were supposed to stay for a week only, but ended up never leaving anyway. They stayed with the four of them, with Jungkook, not as roommates only, but as cuddle mates in winter, bed mates during nightmares, pillow fighting and shopping mates during weekends and most importantly as his first true source of comfort due to the similar ages they share.
Jungkook would never choose favorites among his friends, but just in case he is threatened with a gun, he would choose Taehyung. Not because this hyung was the most handsome and adorable, or the most touchy and cuddly, or the most trusted and attentive.
