mermaids and humans cannot mate/be inlove because of a curse (i call it the areil curse lmao)because a mermaid and human fell inlove but the human killed the mermaid a year later which made the mermaids ghost mad so she ask a witch to cast a curse not allowing humans and mermaids to collide however after the witch died they made a potion to make them human and mermaid which allowed them to collide.how ever its hard not to find a witch that takes it for granted/ is mean and wicked. finding one for its word is hard and long...but that doesnt matter!also if a human and mermaid fall inlove the mermaid dies a year later btw. (YOU CAN GUESS BY THE TITLE POOK)
