How Have You Been?

Darius x reader

Summary: Darius and Ben go to Y/n's house to warn her of the danger the five of them are in. But Y/n's not the same vibrant person she used to be. Not only did Brooklynn's death have a big impact on her, Y/n feels half-responsible for Brooklynn's death. Not to mention, Brooklynn and Y/n had talked over the phone about Darius's abrupt confession to Brooklynn and ever since then, Y/n was too hurt to talk to Darius. She'd ignored Brooklynn's theory that Darius did have feelings for Y/n but gave up because he thought Y/n didn't reciprocate his feelings and had moved on to Brooklynn because he thought he'd have a better chance. Little does Y/n know that despite dismissing Brooklynn's theory, Brooklynn had actually had a very surprisingly accurate guess.
Warnings: fluff, angst maybe, and more fluff, it's not perfect so please don't hate on me for the randomly long summary description and the super long beginning explanation😭.....and just the one-shot in general.
This is literally something I wrote for myself but I decided to share for anyone else that might happen to share my obsession (casual shoutout to  my camp Cretaceous bestie, DINO-SAURA34 ).

(Third person POV, for now)

During the six months on isla nublar, Y/n had been known to the others as the creative one—always problem solving and finding ways around the hard situations, but also just obsessed with coming up with story plots and twists for a book she'd always wanted to write for some weird random reason.

But more than that, she had a specific relationship with each of her other six companions—Brooklynn always relied on her to help come up with cool video ideas, Sammy enjoyed hearing her random story plot ideas, Yaz liked having company on her morning runs as Y/n seemed to be the only other person willing to run for fun (not to mention Y/n was also the only one who'd listen to all the theme park death stories Yaz had read online), Kenji always went to her whenever he wanted to boast about all the cool, rich kid stuff he had back home, Ben loved the crazy dangerous ideas Y/n came up with (and always somehow managed to talk Ben out of actually trying out the ideas), and Darius just enjoyed talking with her about anything, really .

But, out of all them, Y/n liked talking to Darius the most. And, yes, it was because she'd developed a crush on the boy over those long six months.

Deathly afraid of rejection, though, Y/n decided it best not to tell him or act on it and instead tried her best to push away her feelings for him.

Which failed miserably and only ended up making her feel depressed and hopeless.

After they'd all gotten back to the mainland and reunited with their families, Y/n had moved out of her parents house and left to live by herself. She would still FaceTime with the other six but she always kept her distance.

They would visit her—only on rare occasions though.

Well...

All except Darius, for some reason—Y/n never figured out what that reason was and tried to pretend it didn't bother her when deep down it left a hole in her chest.

After Brooklynn's death, Y/n lost motivation to talk to the others. No one quite understood her like Brooklynn did. Y/n would go so far as to say Brooklynn was her best friend.

And she felt guilty after Brooklynn died.

She was partially responsible for Brooklynn's death because, yes, she did meet with Brooklynn that night...and while they were both hiding, waiting for Darius, they got attacked by a loose allosaurus, and then a trio of atroceraptors.
