The Fae's Pets

Hot Dog

Yugo sat sulkily on the outer edge of the local park, scowling as he watched the community fundraiser for the church. Despite the fundraiser being for the orphans being raised by the church, they had to wait to eat until all the rich people and the church staff had eaten their fill. Which meant that there probably wouldn't be enough food leftover for Yugo, since the younger orphans got to eat first.

Yugo was so busy sulking and silently bemoaning his empty stomach's fate that he didn't notice the crowd go silent for a few moments. When he finally did notice the silence, he looked up. A tall figure with asparagus hair was approaching him, all eyes on the figure.

"Hello, young man!" the figure said when he reached Yugo. "I can hear your stomach growling from the forest! Would you like something to eat?"

"Yeah, but there's not gonna be enough food left for me to have any, cuz all the rich people keep going back for seconds!" Yugo said, sulking furiously. The figure smiled warmly at him. "If you give me your name, I'll give you this hot dog right here!" he said, showing the blunana a very tasty-looking hot dog.

"Yugo don't do it!" one of the church officials exclaimed, realizing what the figure was doing. But Yugo was too hungry to resist. "My name's Yugo! YUGO, not Yuugou! Don't forget it! Everyone always calls me Yuugou, but that's NOT my name. It's YUGO!"

The crowd gasped in horror, knowing full well what just happened. The figure handed Yugo the hot dog, and the young orphan eagerly dug in.

"Yugo, you stupid child!" the church official cried. "You just gave your name to a fae! And you're eating fae food! Now that fae can steal you away!"

"I don't care!" Yugo said defiantly. "I'm hungry! I'd rather have a hot dog to eat and be taken by the fae than have nothing to eat and be stuck here! Besides, this hot dog is really good!"

He devoured the hot dog, before patting his tummy in satisfaction. Then, the world began spinning. "Woah what... what was in that hot dog..." he mumbled, before the world faded to black.

The fae caught his new pet before he could hit his head. That was very easy! Almost too easy! He'd known that this cute little blunana was a bit dense, but that worked very well in his favor! Besides, it seemed he was just as willing to be kidnapped by a fae as Yuto was, if his response to being told that he belonged to the fae now was any indication.

The next pet might be a little harder. He was much more intelligent than Yugo. But the fae still had a few tricks up his sleeve!
