[Emma's POV]

I blinked. "What do you mean I can't finish my degree online?" I snapped at the lady behind the mogahony desk; a pair of black frames sat on the bridge of her nose.

"Exactly that, Ms. Gonzalez," the secretary, Ms. Robinson, said. "You have a year left."

I huffed. "How does that impact anything? I remember when Lucas Graham moved to the United States last year, and he had a year left. You allowed him to do his last year online." I tell her, irritated by their double standards.

"That was different," is all she said, and I gawked at her in disbelief.

"What do you mean that was different? I have to move because my husband is based in California," I exclaim, exasperated with her.

"You're not married." She retorted, and I scowled at her response. Pulling out my phone, I dialled Zach's number, pressing the phone against my ear with a hand on my hip.

"Hello?" Zach's tired voice rang through my phone.

"Can you come down to my university?" I ask him, disregarding his greeting.

"Emma?" He murmured, and I huffed.

"Yes. Can you come to my university?" I asked him, and I heard him groan on the other end. "Please Zach. The lady here doesn't believe I'm married, so she's not allowing me to complete the rest online."

He groaned, and I heard some shuffling on his end. "I'll be there in 15," he said before hanging up, and I sighed in relief.

"He's coming," I smugly tell Ms. Robinson, and she just rolls her eyes.

The audacity.

I stepped to the side and plopped myself on a one-seated couch. I began scrolling through Instagram for a while and lost track of time as I sat with my legs spread out and my back barely touching the back of the sofa, when a message from Zach came through.

Zach: I'm here.

Zach: Where do I go?

Me: Come to the office.

Zach: Ok

I sat up and pulled on a strand of hair that was in my face and winced at the pain that ricocheted from the harsh tug. "Ouch," I murmured under my breath as I rubbed the spot with the pad of my forefinger.

My head snapped to the sound of the office door being opened, and I grinned at the sight of 'my husband' walking through, his hair tousled. His eyes darted around the tiny office until his brown orbs landed on my figure sitting up right. "What's the matter?" He questioned, a sigh falling from his lips.
