The cellar

Heart thumping, Body aching, I groan in exasperation. Where am I? Looking around, I ignore the stinging sensation of my arms as I look down, my hands locked in tight by iron chains, grime and dirt coated my fingernails. Slowly dragging my gaze up, I saw the mess in front of me. Iron bars surrounded me, I could not see clear of my surroundings fully, by the frame of the walls around me cut my vision up into pieces. Cut cobblestones, prickling and scratching my feet, as I crawled towards the door, to get a better view of where I had ended up in.

The cellar was full to the brim. Jam-packed cells with men inside of them, shouts and whimpers arose from those bodies to be let out. I shuddered at their appearance. Dried dark red substance (presuming blood) clung to their torn clothes. Ribs protruded out against their skin, as they stared back at me soullessly. Whispers arose as they soon

began all staring at me, and I frowned in confusion.

"You're the one who created the explosion in the mortal world aren't you?"

A male voice spoke out in one of the cages, his low baritone voice layered with ridicule. Stiffening at his words, I chose to ignore his question and presence entirely and I looked around for anything I could use to escape. A loose metal bar, Or even anything that could be used as a weapon will do.

"Answer me mutt!" His voice now raised, as he banged into the cells of his own compartment in frustration as onlookers stared in disbelief by my dismissive behaviour towards him. It was clear to me, that he was the boss around here, probably before he got wounded up here in a gang where he was the boss. But none of his power and influence can ever make me quake. Everyone is the same down here. No point of a power play down here. Yes. You could make people submit to your will but that still isn't real power, and this man is an example of it. We are all bottom feeders here, even if you are big and strong. You're in the same place as everyone else here.

I ignored his insistent cries and threats of torture towards me as I turned away towards the entrance of my cell; looking down towards my clothes, as soon panic enthralled my mind. Who changed me? Bile rose from me as I struggled to keep it in as my breath grew laboured. How could I have been so stupid and defenceless? I should've stayed awake, and protected myself from... what? The question still circled in my mind. How I had gotten here. All I remember is an argument with Xavier, my vision wavering and turning black, and then falling into comforting arms then waking up here.

I leaned against the wall, my hands trembling. Fuck I miss Xavier. The way he could light up the whole room with his joyous presence, his kind and caring to nature, even the ones who did not like him he would still try and put a smile on their faces. He had gotten me out of trouble more times than I could remember; if it wasn't for my brother, I would've been trapped in the Melark, where I would still be selling myself and dealing drugs for change and a nice hot meal, and that would be hard to come by. I think back on the argument I had with Xavier, wiping an unshed tear from my grimy face as regret tore out from me. It was stupid for me to argue with him for something so trivial when I now understood what he meant by me having better opportunities, even though my whole mind screamed no. But all that's lost now, and I fear what had happened to Xavier. Is he Dead? Is he in another cell like me in a different area? Where is he? Will I ever see him again?

A loud creak stopped the spiralling of my thoughts as I looked up, at the diminishing light that had come from the door, my hands coiled up into fists, raising my body off the floor, I held onto the bars for support, until I could fully stand up and limped towards the door. Ready to defend myself. I looked up in surprise at my target, which looked onwards at me with vehemence. My eyebrows furrowed. An enforcer? What is he doing here? There are no enforcers in the mortal world and they never come there, unless I wasn't in

the mortal world...And if I wasn't. where am I then?

"Kaltain Rael you have been convicted of manslaughter, exploring the grounds of the coin, and endangering the gods and Demigods of our beloved nation. You will hereby stand on trial and if guilty, will be sentenced to the shadow realm to await your torture."
