The growing distance

By September, I began to notice the changes in her. Her texts were short, and her replies were dry. She seemed distant, and I didn’t want to admit it, but I knew something was wrong. Despite my best efforts, I never questioned her about it. But deep down, I felt the distance growing between us.

In October, she finally told me the truth. “I can’t maintain this relationship anymore. I need to focus on my studies. My parents won’t accept someone from another caste. Let’s end this.”

I was in shock. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. After everything we had been through, all the promises we made to each other, it seemed so sudden. “But we promised to stay together, to fight for each other!” I pleaded.

But she was resolute. Without another word, she blocked me on all platforms—WhatsApp, phone, everything. It felt like my world had shattered in an instant.
