A Butterfly's Farewell

By Debasish Mondol

Verse 1
In the coldest season, when we first met,
Winter's chill, but your warmth I won't forget.
We went to the same school, hung out after class,
Watched the sunset, and the sunrise pass.

Chorus
You touched the pearl-like fog on the grass,
Chased blue butterflies, dreams so vast.
Wanted to walk over rainbows high,
But you flew away, like a butterfly.

Verse 2
I loved to see your smiling face,
My little princess, in our special place.
Your little talks, so soft and sweet,
A gentle butterfly, our hearts would meet.

Chorus
You touched the pearl-like fog on the grass,
Chased blue butterflies, dreams so vast.
Wanted to walk over rainbows high,
But you flew away, like a butterfly.

Bridge
"Let's go to the sea, to the hills," you said,
"Make a campfire, under stars we'll tread."
I promised the future, but now I see,
The present was all we had, you and me.

Chorus
You touched the pearl-like fog on the grass,
Chased blue butterflies, dreams so vast.
Wanted to walk over rainbows high,
But you flew away, like a butterfly.

Outro
In my heart, you'll always stay,
A butterfly that flew away.
In the coldest season, you brought the light,
Now I cherish our memories, day and night.

Hopeful Twist
And though you flew to skies unknown,
Your spirit's light has brightly shone.
In every sunrise, I see your smile,
And know we'll meet again, after a while.
