CHAPTER SEVEN

I followed father's instructions and ran. I ran sideways, diagonal... anywhere the rebels were not. Finally, I thought I'd done it, even though I was no where near the town, at least I was far from the rebels. However, when I stopped for breath, strong hands clutched my arms and another pair closed my mouth. Rebel hands. They led me back to the dock where I found that the rest of their group had gone. Father's and Gracie's body's were still there though. Lying on the ground, in a pool of blood. Soon, I'd join them. One of the rebels left my mouth and walked in front of me, pinning a gun to my chest. This time, I couldn't escape. The other man was holding my wrists so tightly, that whenever I moved, I rubbed my wrists raw. I looked forward. Before me, stood a masked assassin, his finger on the trigger. I held my breath and he pressed... Nothing! No bullet hit me and I was alive. I breathed out, wondering what had happened. The gunman looked at the holding man and said:

" There are no bullets left. But I know a way we can get rid of her." The gunman winked and the both cackled. Soon they were rolling boxes around, the kind in which the bad fish, which no one we would buy, were kept. They found a relatively small one and shook the rotten fish corpses were kept. And then I knew what they were planning to do to me. They were going to put me in the box, nail it up and set me off into the sea. There was no hope. I was going to die.
