Epilogue: The Dog Café Surprise
It was a Saturday afternoon, and Do Yoon and Ju Ha had planned a simple day out—just the two of them. They had decided to take a break from their busy schedules and enjoy some time together, but what Do Yoon didn't expect was that Ju Ha would bring up something completely new.
As they sat down in a cozy café, sipping on iced coffee, Ju Ha casually mentioned something in passing that caught Do Yoon's attention. It was a simple statement, but it made Do Yoon's heart warm.
"I've never had a pet in my life," Ju Ha said, his voice soft, almost wistful. "My sister, Jun Hee, is allergic to animals, so we could never have one. But... I've always wanted a dog."
Do Yoon raised an eyebrow, his curiosity piqued. "Wait, seriously? You've never had a pet?"
Ju Ha chuckled, shrugging his shoulders slightly. "Nope. Not even a hamster. Just never worked out with Jun Hee's allergies. But... yeah, I always imagined what it would be like to have a dog. Maybe a golden retriever. They're so fluffy and cute."
Do Yoon's mind immediately began to race, a plan forming in his head. He knew how much Ju Ha longed for a pet, and he was determined to do something special for him. Ju Ha deserved the world, and if giving him a taste of the pet experience was something he could do, then that's exactly what he was going to make happen.
The next weekend, Do Yoon surprised Ju Ha with an unexpected suggestion. "How about we go to a dog café today?" he asked, his tone almost too casual. "It's a place where you can hang out with dogs. You know, play with them, pet them... It's kind of like a pet experience, but without actually having to take one home."
Ju Ha blinked in surprise, his eyes widening. "A dog café? You're kidding, right?"
Do Yoon grinned, clearly enjoying the moment. "Nope. I checked it out online. It's actually pretty popular. And they have all kinds of dogs—big ones, small ones, fluffy ones. You name it."
Ju Ha was taken aback, his usual cool demeanor replaced by pure excitement. "You... you actually planned this?"
"Of course," Do Yoon said with a wink. "I want you to have the chance to spend time with dogs. You've always wanted it, right? This is the closest I can get to giving you one."
Ju Ha's heart skipped a beat. He never expected Do Yoon to do something so thoughtful for him. He could feel his cheeks flushing, but his eyes softened, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "You're unbelievable, Do Yoon. Thank you."
The two of them arrived at the dog café later that afternoon, and as soon as they stepped inside, Ju Ha's eyes lit up. It was a cozy space, filled with playful dogs of all sizes and breeds. Some were chasing after toys, while others were lounging lazily on the floor, looking like they had all the time in the world. The scent of dog treats and freshly brewed coffee hung in the air, making the place feel even more like home.
Ju Ha hesitated for a moment, a little unsure of how to approach the dogs. But Do Yoon, ever the enthusiastic supporter, nudged him forward. "Come on, hyung. Don't be shy. You're here to enjoy yourself. I'll even let you play with the big ones if you want."
Ju Ha chuckled nervously, still standing a little stiffly. "I don't know... I've never been around dogs like this before."
Do Yoon laughed, then casually scooped up a fluffy, small dog that had wandered over to them. He held it out to Ju Ha, who looked at it hesitantly. "Just try it. The dogs here are super friendly. Trust me."
The moment Ju Ha took the tiny dog into his arms, his face lit up with genuine joy. "Oh my God, it's so cute," he whispered, his voice soft as the dog snuggled up to him. "I can't believe I'm holding one."
Do Yoon watched him, a smile tugging at his lips. "Told you. You're a natural with them."
As they continued to play with the dogs, the afternoon unfolded into a mix of laughter and moments of surprise. Do Yoon, ever the trickster, would playfully distract Ju Ha with one dog, only to slip another into his lap when he wasn't looking. There was one moment when Do Yoon tried to get a particularly energetic puppy to sit still on Ju Ha's lap, only for the dog to leap right into Do Yoon's face, causing both of them to burst out laughing.
Ju Ha couldn't help but laugh along with Do Yoon, his heart feeling lighter than it had in weeks. This small but meaningful experience was everything he had hoped for. The joy of being around the dogs, the warmth of Do Yoon's constant attention, and the realization that he had a boyfriend who understood him in ways no one else ever had—it was all a perfect combination.
At one point, as they both sat down with their coffees, a larger dog trotted over to Ju Ha and gently nudged its head against his lap. Ju Ha's face lit up again, and without thinking, he began to pet the dog, letting out a soft laugh as it rolled over on its back for belly rubs.
Do Yoon leaned back in his seat, watching with a fond smile. "You look like you're in heaven right now."
"I am," Ju Ha admitted, his smile wide. "This is exactly what I needed. I never knew how much I would love this."
Do Yoon leaned in slightly, his voice quiet but sincere. "I'm glad you're enjoying it, hyung. I'll do anything to make you happy."
Ju Ha met his gaze, feeling something warm swell in his chest. "You really are the best boyfriend," he said, his voice full of affection.
"And you're the best," Do Yoon replied, his smile growing brighter. "Let's make sure we come back here sometime. You deserve to have all the dog cuddles you can get."
As the afternoon drew to a close, both of them left the dog café with smiles plastered on their faces. Ju Ha had gotten more than just a taste of his dream; he had shared it with someone who truly cared. And for Do Yoon, seeing his boyfriend's joy was all the reward he needed.
As they walked hand-in-hand back to their car, Do Yoon couldn't help but tease, "So, when are we getting a dog, hyung?"
Ju Ha raised an eyebrow, giving him a playful shove. "Slow down, Do Yoon. Let's just start with another café trip, okay?"
Do Yoon grinned, clearly enjoying the banter. "Deal. But I'm still holding out hope."
And as they continued to laugh together, there was no doubt in either of their minds—they were exactly where they were supposed to be.
