SCENE 3
It was in the evening, Joseph was outside the house sitting on a mat, Chroma was in the parlour watching film while Amanda in her room}
Ngozi: {walking, come across Amanda’s father sitting beside the house}
Ngozi: Good evening.
Joseph: {cheerfully} Good evening, how are you fairing?
Ngozi: {replied joyously} Well papa. Is Amanda in?
Joseph: Yes, she is in, go in.
Ngozi: {walk in to Amanda’s house where she finds Mrs. Chroma sitting in the parlour} good evening mama.
Chroma: How are you and your mother? Hope you are all fine.
Ngozi: {dignified} We are all fine thank you.
Chroma: She is in, go in.
Ngozi: {admiringly} Ok
{move admiringly toward to Amanda’s room}
{door knocked}
Amanda: {readily} Who is knocking, come in please.
Ngozi: {open the door with some excitement on her face come toward to where Amanda is sitting}
Amanda: {stand up amused, gladly, joyful, and surprise to see Ngozi without any notice} {chuckles} Are you, Or I am dreaming, are you really Ngozi.
Ngozi: {hysteria} hmm Amanda you forget us; you are not even looking for us.
{silent a moment}
Ngozi: {continues} It’s me, Ngozi, it’s not dream, I see you seldom visiting me, that why I decide to visit you.
Amanda: {joyfully} I am sorry Ngozi, I am really dejected to say this, I am also intending to visit you tomorrow…...
{cut in silently}
Ngozi: That what you always say “intending” you always pretend by intending.
Amanda: {gladly} I am sorry my friend.
{stand up and hold Ngozi’s hand and lead her to sit beside the bed}
Now sit here I am coming. {went out joyfully to supply them with some drinks, she kept the supplied drinks beside Ngozi, pour the juice in side cups, later handed it to Ngozi. Amanda get back and sit down beside Ngozi her hands folded}
Amanda: {cheerfully} Anything the matter, is there any update?
Ngozi: {replied} No I just visit you and to greet mummy, although I will not stay long.
Amanda: {cut in sharply} You will not stay long? Where are you going this early you do not even spend five minute here, but you are saying you are leaving. See you better stop this.
Ngozi: {eagerly} Ammm…Amanda where is Alie?
{pause moment}
Ngozi: Amanda, I ask where is Alie?
{Amanda’s mood change}
Ngozi: {continue} Amanda see how you change, this really wonder me, this is not how recently you are, why do you change? {pause} anything happens to Alie that you change like this.
Amanda: {boast in tear reluctantly} Ngozi, you cannot understand, Alie cannot pay for my bride price, he is doing all he can but yet nothing, {pause} and I really love Alie and I cannot live without him.
{Silent a moment}
Even my parent has started complaining, I don’t know what to do. Ngozi please help me. I know you know how certainly I love Alie.
Ngozi: {shake her head ominously} Amanda, I know we would come to this stage, where by your parent will be eager ling. I tell you earlier Alie has no money to marry you, He is just wasting your time, see now that he cannot pay your bride, so how do you expect you to live together?
Amanda: {cut in grimace} What do you mean Ngozi, what are you trying to say.
{quiet a moment}
You know I cannot live without Alie, if Alie vacate me, I will for sure lose my life, please help me.
{stand up and hold Ngozi’s hand}
please Ngozi help me find a way out.
Ngozi: {hesitant} If that the case, the advice I will give you is that try all your best and ability to erase Alie from your heart. {Amanda open her mouth widely and surprise of what Ngozi said}
Ngozi: {continues} Also pray to tell God to solve your problems.
Amanda: {shedding tears} Thank you Ngozi but I think is hardly to erase Alie from this my heart {pointing her chest}
Ngozi: How can you say you cannot erase him from your heart, since you are not babies of the same womb, so you can wipe him out for sure.
Amanda: Ngozi, you cannot understand, but I cannot eliminate Alie from my heart.
Ngozi: {reluctantly} Ok, since you cannot erase him from your heart let’s give him more time if he can pay the bride price, but always pray to tell God your problems.
Amanda: {hysterically} Thank you my friend, I will be praying as you advise, thank you for your all time support, cooperation, advices and empathy in all my problems, may God help us all together.
Ngozi: {eagerly} Amanda, I am leaving.
Amanda: {interject calmly} This early, wait till sunset.
Ngozi: I am sorry, but I promise mummy not to stay long.
Amanda: {replied} Ok, thank you.
{Ngozi stand up and also Amanda followed her to Escort her}
Chroma: {Ngozi meet Chroma in the parlour while leaving} {cheerfully} a…… Ngozi are you leaving this early?
Ngozi: {admiringly} Yes mama, I promise mummy not to stay long.
Chroma: {excited} Ok, greet her for me, I will have time and come to pay visit to her by god grace. Bye.
Ngozi: Ok {walk out admiringly, while waving her hand to Amanda.}
CURTAIN FALL.
