One question I am constantly asked when I tell people about that house on the mountain, is why we didn't leave when the first things happened. Why did we stay there for months? They say they would have left the minute anything happened.
I know my mom and dad would have loved to move the minute things started happening at that house. We didn't because we still needed to be in the area as my dad was still working at my Aunt's house. Another reason we didn't leave is there were simply no other choices of houses that were large enough for all of us within our budget. And, if you consider the entire area seemed to be the territory of that occult, living in the wild (camping) was not an option either. My dad started saving money not long after we moved into that house and strange things started happening. After my doctor visit, when the doctor said you either move her out of that situation or she is likely to have a mental and/or physical break down my dad decided it was time to leave. They still did not have enough money nor resources for us all to move though so my sister, brother and her family stayed at that house after we left. The plan was they would stay there until dad could find a place to house all of us.
I will never forget packing my stuff up knowing I was leaving that awful place. I was so happy I was leaving. If dad had said leave your stuff and go I would have. But we did pack up all of our stuff to move it to storage until we could find a bigger place. I am thankful nine of the evil attached to my things. I did not know that happened to people or I might have threw it all away.
The temporary place dad found for us was in the city on the other side of the mountain. It was a bigger city on that side and there were more options available. And it was far enough away from the area we lived in previously my parents thought we would be out of the sphere those horrible people operated in. It was a 45 minute drive each way for my dad to get to my Aunt's house to work for her but he took the doctor's recommendation to remove me from the situation seriously.
We had a temporary residence in a cabin on a little lake. It was a vacation rental area so it was us and then people just enjoying their time off. Unlike the last lake I had spent time on, the one where we rowed the boat out, no-one was shooting at us on this lake. My dad took out his fishing stuff and he and I spent many pleasant nights fishing on that lake.
The cabin was tiny, my sister and I shared a bed in the living room and my parents shared the one bedroom. But I didn't care. I could actually sleep without fear of waking up to some paranormal event or some terrorizing event perpetrated by the occult.I was also registered for school which was due to start in just a few weeks. I did not care that I was going to be a new student yet again. Being a new student is never fun. Over the years I was new a lot. I went from a small school where I was immediately popular to a snobby rich kids school where poverty was considered a personality flaw. I did not love it. Landing on what was equivalent to the set of "Mean Girls" was still better than Hell.
When we first got to that cabin I was so worried that something might follow us. I was worried that the objects we took with us from that house might harbor an evil presence. I thought the people from that place might figure out where we went and come after us. But neither of those things happened. I am so thankful we left the people and the paranormal on that mountain.
