Magdelena knew she had sinned. Every fiber of her being told her to run, flee, and leave that man behind, but she couldn't. Her instincts screamed for her to kill him, as he was a vampire—an abomination, something unnatural to her wolf bloodline. Yet, she had allowed herself to be drawn in by something deeper, something her rational mind tried to ignore. The allure of him had been irresistible that night. She had fallen for him, for his charm, power, and the strange, magnetic pull that drew them together. One night, just one night, and it had been enough.
She had run back to her pack afterward, hiding her shame and guilt beneath the guise of a night that meant nothing. She had tried to forget, to push it all away. But something had changed within her. Her monthly cycle had not come, and weeks passed without the comforting sign of her body's natural rhythms. She had ignored the growing unease in her chest. She couldn't even shift anymore—the physical change that had once been second nature to her was impossible.
Pregnant. The word clung to her thoughts like a poison, growing stronger daily.
She couldn't let anyone know. Her pack, her family—what would they think of her? She, the alpha's daughter, the next to lead their bloodline, had ruined everything. She had betrayed her responsibilities and her future. She couldn't bring herself to tell her father or bear the thought of him finding out. Her father was a man of pride, a leader who had ruled with strength and honor. He would never forgive her for this.
One evening, unable to hide it any longer, she went to her father. Her hands shook, but she managed to stand before him, her voice steady though she could barely look him in the eye.
"Father," she started, her voice small. "I need to talk to you about something."
Her father, a towering figure of power and authority, turned from his place by the fire. His gaze was stern, his sharp features unreadable.
"What is it, Magdelena?" he asked coldly, his eyes narrowing as he absorbed her posture and discomfort.
"I... I'm pregnant," she whispered, as though saying the words aloud would make them real and undeniable.
Her father's face darkened, and he stepped forward, grabbing her arm roughly. "What?" His voice thundered, and his grip tightened painfully around her. "How dare you disgrace this bloodline? How could you? After everything we've done, after everything I've worked for, you go and—" He stopped, his chest heaving with rage.
Her mother, who had been standing nearby, gasped. Hearing the commotion, the younger siblings gathered in the doorway, sensing something was terribly wrong. Her father's fury was palpable, his voice rising harshly.
"Who did this to you, Magdelena? Who is the father of this disgrace?"
Magdelena opened her mouth to speak but could only stammer, her mind blank at the thought of revealing the truth. "I... I can't tell you," she managed, her heart pounding. She was trapped in her lie, unable to speak the truth.
"You will tell me!" her father roared. "I will not let you drag our name through the mud like this. You are next to lead the pack, and now you've ruined everything!" He shoved her backward, sending her stumbling toward the corner of the room.
Her mother stepped forward, her face pale and full of concern. "Husband, please—" she started, but her father's wrath cut her off.
