"Ivery or er Irene has been getting along with Elijah quite well." Jeff's mom paused, "she likes to be called Irene right?"

My dad spoke, "Yeah, Irene also told me that Elijah told her that he likes to be called Jeff?"

Jeff's mom spoke more, "Oh yeah, I only call him Elijah, his dad basically gave him that nickname when he turned two."

My dad's smile widened, "Really? My wife gave Irene her nickname around the same time."

They kept on yapping and I got bored of listening so I left and went to find Jeff who told me that he was gonna go find some popsicles.

Jeff popped up from behind me, "found them, which flavor do you want, I got grape and strawberry."

"Strawberry please." he gave me the strawberry one and opened it for me, "thanks."

When Jeff was eating his he looked over to ask me a question, "so how old are you?"

"I'm six. What about you?"

"I'm seven."

Some popsicles melted, and got on my cheek. Jeff looked up from his popsicle.

"You got some juice on your face." Jeff wiped the popsicle off my cheek.

"Thanks Jeff."

I over heard some talk from Jeff's mom and dad, my dad spoke first, "You know the weather has been going up slightly everyday."

Jeffs mom responded nodding her head, "yeah all my crops are dried, it barely rained for a good month now."

"Yeah, something about the sun growing hotter or bigger, something like that." My dad looked over to me, "Hey Irene, it's getting late, we got to go home."
I looked over to Jeff,

"pleeaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee let me stay, pleeeeeaaaaaaseee?"

"No Irene, we gotta go home."

"Please?" I put on my best puppy dog expression on.

Jeff's mom spoke, "she can stay, we aren't very busy, Mike, my husband doesn't come home from work until six, so we all free."

My dad rolled his eyes, "fine, one more hour, no more than that or mommy's gonna get mad."

Jeff threw his popsicle away, "Hey Irene, you wanna see something cool?"

Jeff attempted a handstand but let's just say it wasn't very successful.

"That's... not that impressive, Jeff." Jeff tried to do a handstand but failed and landed on his face.

"I think it's pretty cool."

"Hey I-

"-rene, are you awakeee?" Jeff waved his hand in front of me.

I pushed myself off the bed, someone must have put me there because all I remember is passing out with Jeff and the other gladers.

"Yes I'm awake. What's up?"

Jeff shrugged, "I don't know, you were just mumbling in your sleep."

I shrugged this time, "that could happen to anyone, I must have had a dream."

"Do you remember it?"

"No."

"Anyways, George woke up, it's just that he isn't really responding to anyone."

I immediately went to go to the medhut, dragging Jeff along with me, he can be so clueless sometimes- if George, a potentially psycho, woke up, and he didn't bother to inform me as soon as he did.

"Heyyyy- it's not like he was attacking anyone." Jeff said like that was an excuse for something like this.

I pushed open the door for the medhut, but inside was.. not George, instead a woman, she looked like she was in her thirty's? Forty's?

She spoke, "Wicked is good, remember who you truly are. You're our greatest doctor, Irene, don't forget that."

"Wait what?"

Jeff looked over to me. "Irene wake-"
