Standing outside Taehyung's cabin, Jungkook knocks on the door. From inside, a very deep and commanding voice calls out, "Come in."
When Jungkook steps inside, he sees Taehyung engrossed in something on his computer. Several files are open in front of him, and his entire focus is on the computer screen. He doesn’t even bother to look up to see who’s entered. Jungkook stands by the door, watching him, and it’s clear from his face that he’s exhausted.
Taehyung senses someone’s presence but, when he doesn’t hear anyone speak, he says without looking up, “Do I need to wait for an auspicious time just to hear a few words…?” He stops mid-sentence as he looks up and sees Jungkook standing there, a bag slung over one shoulder, looking right at him. At the sight of Jungkook, all his exhaustion seems to vanish, and a peaceful expression appears on his face—something that had been missing all day. Standing up, he starts walking slowly toward Jungkook. Jungkook watches him approach, expressionless and silent.
When Taehyung reaches him, he gently takes Jungkook's bag off his shoulder, places it on the table, and looks at him asking, “Are you tired?”
Jungkook was very tired. After so many days, he had gone out, and spending the entire day with Dk and Nakyum roaming around the college was tiring him out. But he didn’t want Taehyung to worry about him, and how could he possibly admit he was tired when the man standing before him spends hours performing complex surgeries, sometimes going days without sleep because of his work? Compared to that, Jungkook fatigue seemed insignificant. Looking down, he replies, “No, it wasn’t that hectic.”
Smiling, Taehyung gently holds him by the shoulder, guides him to sit on a chair, pours a glass of water from the jug on the table, and hands it to him, saying, “You don’t need to think before speaking in front of me. I don’t need words to understand you. The expressions on your face tell me everything I need to know.”
Taking the glass from him, Jungkook asks with a slight smile, “And what did my face tell you?”
Taehyung sits back in his chair and responds, “That you’re exhausted from wandering around university all day, and right now, all you want is to go to your room and sink into your beauty sleep.”
Hearing this from him, Jungkook was momentarily taken aback because that was exactly what he was thinking. He was feeling very sleepy and wanted to rest, but Taehyung had called him here.
Jungkook: "If you already knew, then why did you call me here? I could have gone home, right?"
Taehyung: "I called you here so I could know how your first day went."
Jungkook: "You could have asked at home, too. Did you really call me all the way to the hospital just to know that? Even if you had asked at home, I would have told you the same story of what happened at university today."
Taehyung smiled: "When anything happens with you, I have the right to be the first to know. Whether you're happy, sad, or excited—I want to know everything firsthand. If I had asked at home, by then you would have already told everyone how your day was, and I would be the last to find out, which I don’t want. That’s why I called you here. Now, tell me what I brought you here to hear."
