The Gryffindor painting swung open and the sound of slow, heavy footsteps echoed through the stone walls. You looked up from your desk and saw Harry rounding the corner, looking rather forlorn. He let out a small, low huff as he walked through the common room.

It was late in the afternoon, a few days after the Hippogriff lesson, and you and the twins had finished classes for the day; you'd insisted that they study at least a little before the Holidays started, considering that your O.W.L exams were starting in less than six months. You were sat by one of the heavy, wooden desks in their common room, with Fred sat closely next to you and George on the corner. You had an assortment of big books, scribbled parchment and ink-covered quills scattered in front of the three of you, and you were currently going over their notes on the Draught of Living Death.

"Alright, Harry?" You called, your brows furrowing slightly in concern as you looked at him. He mumbled something incoherent under his breath and flopped on a sofa, face first.

"I feel you, mate," said Fred, exaggerating confusion as he glanced down at your hand that was scribbling away over his messy writing. "Oi," he huffed, "we spent bloody ages on those notes."

George nodded, sticking his bottom lip out. "Practised our best hand writing and everything," he grumbled.

You glanced back at him, raising an eyebrow. Fred grinned. "Okay, fine. What did I get wrong this time?"

You scooted closer to him, leaning your arm against his as you pointed the feather-end of your quill at some underlined words. "Well, the main thing is here- powdered root of Asphodel. You've listed that you need a gram, but it's half a gram. Like a pinch."

"Blimey, is that it?" George looked exasperated. You nodded, putting your quill down.

"Look at that, George, we're on our way to becoming potion masters," Fred grinned, slapping his brother on the back.

"Not quite, my boys- if you used that much Asphodel the potion won't be...useful anymore. It'll just turn a bright pink and bubble up. Although it would smell quite floral, so I suppose you could use it as an air freshener."

"Ah, so it would still be useful," said Fred, his eyes glinting.

You sighed, glancing back at Harry, who hadn't moved. His feet were hanging off the edge of the sofa and he seemed to be very quietly mumbling to himself. "Remind me to stand on the other side of the room when we have our exam," you murmured to the twins, who'd started listing all the different ways they could use a bright pink flower potion. Fred looked over and saw you looking over at the boy. He nudged your shoulder.

"Should we go check on him?" He whispered to you. You nodded and scooted out of your chair. As the three of you walked towards you, a first-year Gryffindor girl's eyes widened, taking in the Ravenclaw emblem on your cardigan.

"How did you get in here?" She squeaked, sounding both amazed and concerned.

"She's Sirius Black," said Fred, shrugging casually. You laughed and plonked yourself down on the floor beside Harry's sofa.

"Yeah, disguised myself as Dumbledore for those dementors- you know, full beard and everything. Convinced the Fat Lady too."

The young girl narrowed her eyes at you and muttered something before storming up the dorm stairs. Fred and George chuckled, the both of them leaning their forearms against the back of the sofa. You looked back at Harry. George patted Harry's messy hair.

"You alright, mate?"

Harry answered with a muffled, "Yeah." You glanced at the twins, who gave you small smiles before Fred leaned over.
