In the quiet of Katie's bedroom, the soft hum of the early morning sun peeked through the blinds, painting a warm, dappled pattern across the floor. Phoebe, with her blonde locks fanned out on the pillow, stirred slightly, feeling the gentle weight of an arm draped over her waist. She turned to face Katie, whose eyes remained closed, but whose breath grew slightly more even as she tightened her embrace.

The last 3 months had been peaceful and exhilarating for both of them. Each day had brought with it a new discovery about the other, and they were both really happy. Their days had been full of shared giggles, deep conversations, and moments of peacefulness. Phoebe had never felt so seen or understood. She studied Katie's profile, the way her eyelashes fluttered with every breath, and the soft curve of her cheek. A smile grew on Phoebe's face, and she leaned in to press a gentle kiss to Katie's forehead. Katie's eyes fluttered open, a look of contentment crossing her face as she realized Phoebe was awake. "Morning, beautiful," Phoebe whispered, her voice a gentle melody in the stillness.

Katie's eyes searched Phoebe's for a second before she smiled back, her hand moving from Phoebe's waist to caress her cheek. "Hi," she said simply, her voice a low, sleepy rumble. They laid there for a few moments more, their hearts beating in sync with the quiet of the room. Then, with a stretch, Katie sat up, her red hair cascading around her shoulders. She looked over her shoulder at Phoebe, a sweet look in her eye. "I'm hungry," she said.

With that, they both stood up, and Phoebe pulled Katie into a warm hug, feeling the comfort of her arms wrapping around her. They held onto each other for a few seconds longer, then went into the kitchen, their bare feet padding on the cool wood floor. The room was a mess of last night's dinner – a couple of dirty dishes in the sink and a forgotten glass of wine on the counter. Katie made coffee while Phoebe toasted waffles.

As they made breakfast, Katie turned on 'Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl' by Chappell Roan, which had become a morning anthems. They danced around the kitchen, Phoebe singing along as she buttered the waffles and Katie swaying to the beat while she poured the coffee.

As Katie danced around the Kitchen, Phoebe realized she was in love. She watched as moved to the rhythm of the song, hearing her laughter as she almost dropped a cup – it was all so beautiful.

They sat at the kitchen table, the steam from their coffee mingling with the sweet scent of syrup and the warmth of the waffles. Thoughts were now racing through Phoebe's head. She decided to do what she did sometimes when a problem arised, and texted her best friends (her boys), Julien and Lucy.

                                                             The Boys

Phoebe: guys im fucked

Julien: u good dude

Lucy: what happened?

Phoebe: i think i love her

Julien: yayyy

Julien: shit that's huge

Lucy: im so happy for u, tell us more

Phoebe: idk what to do, we've only been dating for 3 months

Julien: girl just tell her, it's not rocket science

Lucy: yeah, ittl be fine

Phoebe: but what if it's too soon?

Julien: it's never too soon if it's love

Lucy: pheebs yall will be fine

Julien: plus she obviously feels it too

Phoebe: thanks guys

Julien: anytime, love you

Lucy: love u

Phoebe's thumb hovered over the screen, contemplating her friends' words. She took a deep breath, setting her phone aside, and turned to Katie, who was busy spreading butter across her waffle, a small dab of it on the tip of her nose. Phoebe couldn't help but laugh and lean over to kiss it away.

"What's so funny?" Katie asked, blushing slightly as she felt the warmth of Phoebe's breath.Phoebe laughed. "You've got a little butter," she said, pointing to the tip of Katie's nose.Katie looked up, surprised, and then she laughed too. "Thanks," she said, wiping her nose with the a napkin.

Phoebe's gaze lingering on Katie's smiling face. She felt a sudden rush of nerves, but she knew she had to say something. "Katie, can I tell you something?"

Katie's eyes met hers, curiosity sparkling in them. "Of course baby," she said, taking a bite of her waffle.

Phoebe took a deep breath, her heart racing. "I've been thinking," she began, "I'm in love with you." She said it quickly, like ripping off a band-aid, hoping that the speed of her confession would somehow ease the weight of the words.

Katie's chewing slowed to a stop, her eyes growing wide. She swallowed, setting her fork down gently. "I love you too," she replied, her voice filled with a warmth that seemed to fill the room.

She went over to Phoebe and kissed her, a soft, lingering kiss that tasted like coffee. They broke apart, smiling at each other.

They finished their breakfast in a comfortable silence, the revelation of their love for one another sitting between them like a warm, golden sun. They cleared the table and washed the dishes together, the mundane task feeling like a dance.

They went and laid down on the couch, Katie holding Phoebe close. Phoebe felt like she was floating, her heart soaring in her chest. Katie softly kissed her cheek and rubbed small circles on her back. They laid there, soaking in their newly said love, feeling the warmth of the sun.
