Unlucky Fortune

4. First Fight

I watch as the demonic Vampires kill a human like pulling chucked away from the bone. Taking a deep breath and take out one of my knives and aim. I throw it and it goes through one of the vamps head killing it instantly. Before the other five can do anything I throw three more. All of them aiming at other vampires and then killing them. This time though the last two vamps know where I am so I jump down. They both chuckle.

"Well looky at this. Those stupid Hunters Has got a new recruit. Probably to replace the stupid one that got away!" One says. I smile under my hood.

"That 'stupid' one killed your old leader." I reply. They both hiss at me before using their speed to try and take me out. I an prepared though and I take out two of my swords. Just as I am about to kill one of them a flashback happens making me falter and allowing the vamp to grab my arm and stick his blood suckers into the skin. I quickly use my other hand and cut his head off. I don't look at him die because it won't be enough. When I turn around the last vamp is charging. He runs at full speed towards me but I jump before he can hit me and flip over him. He runs past me and when I land I grab him and hold a knife to his throat. Vampires may always seem to be abnormally strong in movies but that is a lie. They just have a high matabalism and they need blood to live forever.

"You better behave or this knife will go through your throat." I growl at him. He nods his head and I slowly move the sword away from his neck. I can tell he is about to run, so I quickly turn my sword the other way round and but him in the head so he goes unconscious. I then put my swords back in place and grab the vamps unconscious body starting the trek back to base. This is going to be a fun walk.

I arrive back at base at three am and take the vamps body into the under basement where there are cells. I chuck him in one and I hear him groan. I lock him up and then walk out. I change out of my uniform and into the loose clothes I was wearing earlier before heading up to bed. Just as I reach my door someone small and petite comes out of Will's. I look at the girl who Matt told me was Ellen.

"You're the pretty girl from yesterday. Patty said you're very nice aswell." She exclaims. I can't help but smile as she reminds me of someone else.

"Thank you. You're very pretty aswell, and let's not forget about cute!" I say crouching down to her level. I pinch her cheeks lightly causing her to giggle. "Now why are you up at this time in the morning?" I ask.

"Couldn't sleep. Daddy's snoring was too loud." She says. I hold back a laugh as I remember how Will snored, but that thought ends because I will probably never sleep in the same bed as him... Let alone the same room.

"Well if you want you can sleep in my room?" I ask her. She nods her head eagerly and I stand up to pull her into my room. I let go of her hand and she runs to my bed and jumps on it giggling. "Come on Ellen you need to go to sleep." I tell her. She sits up,

"How did you know my name?"

"Matt told me."

"Oh... I don't know yours. What is it?"

"Hally Grace Carter." I reply. I hate my name as it sounds like some christian or very religious name. Ellen nods her head and lies back down.

"Can you sing for me?" She whispers.

"What do you want me to sing?" I ask jointing her on my bed. She thinks about it for a minute,

"Somewhere over the rainbow." She exclaims. I smile and tuck her in whilst I start singing.

Dreams really do come true" by the time I finish the second verse Ellen is fast asleep. I lie down next to her from my side of the bed and what for darkness and sleep to consume me, only to be waken up by someone screaming

"ELLEN? WHERE ARE YOU?" and I jump out of bed. Lazily I open my door and see Will running around the house.

"Shut up Will. She is asleep in my room." I hiss at him once he goes past. He stops and pushes past me to get in my room.

"Why is she here? Wait why are you here? We weren't expecting you back till much later." He asks. I sigh,

"She is hear because she couldn't sleep with you snoring and I'm here cause I finished early. There's even a guy for you to ask questions to in the cells." I inform him. He looks at me shocked but knods his head. I let out a yawn,

"Oh... Uh you can go back to sleep then and I'll come and collect Ellen when I'm done. Okay?" He asks but before I can answer he leave and I slip back into bed before realizing I was only wearing my underwear in front of him. I fave palm myself and get out rummaging around my clothes to find some sort of pyjamas but instead come across a massively over sized hoodie that was Will's. Sighing I lift it up to my nose and to my surprise it still smells like him.

"Why are you sniffing a jumper?" A small voice asks. I turn around to see Ellen watching me.
"I uh was checking to see if it was clean. Which it is." I reply chucking it over my head. I walk back to my and slide in. Ellen watches me,

"You're weird. But I still like you. You let me sleep away from daddy's snoring!" She exclaims. It is like when ever she says daddy that my chest stings. It can't be my hear breaking because that is already in million pieces.

"Thank you... I think. I like you too." I tell her she smiles brightly at me.

"Good because now you can play with me." She laughs. I smile,

"Sure but later cause I didn't get in till late last night and I'm still very tired, but if you want you can play in here whilst I am sleeping?" I ask. She nods her head and jumps out of bed rushing into her room before running back into mine with a few barbie dolls. I smile and watch her play for a few minutes before laying my head down on my pillow and going to sleep. This is seems to be one of the times I regret what I did.
