People from all over the land heard of his acts of kindness and flocked to him, seeking favors. He refused no one, poor or rich, young or old, male or female, his generosity. Many people were awed by his kindness, while others thought him a fool and an easy target, mocking his naivety. Many black-hearted souls sought him out, thieves, burglars, and cut-purses galore.

One sunny day, when the noon sun was high overhead on his travel through the countryside, he came upon an old beggar woman on the side of the dusty, sun-warmed, country road. The woman was barefoot and wore rags, and begged him for medicine for her sick and bedridden child. The wanderer took pity on the woman and gave her some money from his purse for medicine.
