I've been publishing my Wattpad books since 2014 and people keep asking me how to do it. So I thought that it would be great to just put everything I've learnt along the way into one book so anyone who is interested can find the info they need.
Publishing a book can seem scary and I was scared too when I first started. I knew nothing other than that I wanted to see if the hobby I loved could at least give me some pocket money. I'm still surprised that this 'job' can now pay my bills. It wasn't an easy journey and I'm still learning things as I go. There are ups and downs but all in all, I don't regret getting into the writing game. So if you want to do it, I say try. You never know where this hobby will get you.
Please note that the publishing experience is different for anyone. There were several people who started at the same time as me. Some are doing better than me, some are still climbing. The journey is different for everyone depending on their choices, luck and hard work. Don't expect that it will work out the same way for you as it did for me or any other author that you've seen. The only thing you can do is put in the work and see where you end up.
This guide is arranged in 7 different parts:
Part 1: Jumpstart Your Writing Career
Part 2: Create Unforgettable Stories
Part 3: Word Perfect
Part 4: Self-Publishing Basics
Part 5: Using A Traditional Publisher
Part 6: Your Book Launch
Part 7: No Dead Books
Part 8: Recommended Resources
Each part has several chapters, and the chapters have steps within them, just so that you can have a comprehensive idea of what to do. You don't have to read the whole book at once. Just check the Table of Contents to find what aspect of publishing you're interested in.
Everything you'll find in this book is just the sum of my experiences and learned lessons. It's not perfect. Some authors do it different, and maybe even better. If you know of a better way, please let me know so I can learn too. This book will therefore be updated regularly to reflect any changes in the way I do things.
Also, I don't use everything I've learnt here because I'm a lazy girl. For instance you'll see me talking about vlogging even though I personally don't vlog. Reason? I thought that it was important to give you guys all the info that's out there about things we should be doing. After you've read it all, you can decide for yourself what you'll do and what you won't do.
If you have an urgent question just drop it in the chapters and I'll answer it or direct you to the resources you need.
Good luck y'all. We'll all need it.
Linda.
