"Hey, Harry. You didn't tell us that you had a friend." said Liam Horan when he spotted Harry coming outside of the door, pointing his thumb towards Louis, who seemed to be speaking to Niall and Zayn. Harry found it funny how Liam worded his sentence, knowing that Harry really had no friends whatsoever. "How come we haven't seen him before?"
Well, you weren't really suppose to be seeing him in the first place, thought Harry with confusion, wondering how Louis was now visible to people other than him. Was it some kind of supernatural power that he failed to speak about to Harry? If so, he needed to remain invisible or his parents were going to go ballistic. He didn't want to deal with the who is this boy sleeping in your room talk at the moment, it would cause too much drama.
"He's new to town and is from...uh, a different area of the U.K. We use to go to school together back in, um, grade five." said Harry slowly, nervously coughing when he saw that Liam was squinting his eyes as if he saw right through him.
Liam had always been the smart one out of the Horan boys, which irked Harry until no end, and so he wouldn't be too surprised if the boy would call him out on his bullshit. Harry held his breath and endured in an eye staring contest for about a second before Louis appeared directly in front of him with a bright smile, frowning when Harry didn't smile back.
"Can I talk to you in private, Louis?" said Harry in a harsh tone, trying to keep his eyes cold as the angel looked up at him sadly. The curly haired boy took Louis' arm and tugged him over to a spot where the Horam boys couldn't hear them, looking around before speaking once again. "I thought that I was the only one that could see you?"
"Well, you are, but only if I make it so that I can't be seen. I'm sorry, Harry. Don't be angry with me, I was just excited to see new people and just decided to do it." explained Louis hurriedly, his bottom lip jutting out so that he was pouting. Fucking pouting.
Harry opened and closed his mouth like a fish out of water and then rubbed his temples, not having enough willpower to stay mad at the beautiful angel. He couldn't believe that he was forgiving Louis this easily, but all of his anger had evaporated into thin air. "Listen, it's okay. I just need you to lay low though. We can't have my parents know that a boy is camping out in my room."
Louis clapped his hands together enthusiastically and wrapped his arms around Harry's waist, bringing him in for a hug that Harry was definitely not prepared for. He stood stiffly with his arms to the side, trying to remember the last time someone hugged him like this. It felt weird. Finally, Louis let go and skipped back into the front of the house, Harry following close behind, where the Horan boys were standing and speaking to each other.
Harry still didn't feel comfortable having the Horan boys and Louis together in the same place, and so he chewed on the loose nail of his pinky finger, watching as Louis communicated like the social butterfly he was. He wondered if Louis ever got tired of being happy all the time, but then he pushed the thought all the way to the back of his mind. This was an angel he was speaking about, of course he didn't.
"Louis, you into games?" asked Zayn whole chewing on bubblegum, his white teeth gleaming whenever he opened his mouth. Harry remembered when he use to have a hardcore crush on Zayn, always wanting to do what he did whilst following him around like a lost puppy. He was glad that he had lost all sense of emotion awhile back because now he didn't have to worry about pining over someone who didn't like him back.
Louis stood on the tip of his toes and held his hands behind his back, staring at Zayn with a look known as curiosity. "What kind of games?"
Harry's eyes widened and he quickly took Louis by the hand, beginning to pull him away from the Horan boys with a forced smile. "Sorry blokes, but Louis and I have plans today. Maybe he'll play next time you see him."
"We have plans? Oh! To where?" said Louis cheerfully, which made Harry resist the urge to roll his eyes for a thousand years. Go with the lie, dufus, Harry thought quietly to himself. "Oh, wait, you're right. I didn't know that we had to do that thing today. I'll see you guys later."
Harry forgot that Louis had the ability to read his mind, but then again he couldn't keep up with any of the abilities he had.
The Horan boys waved slowly as the two began to walk away from the house, looking at one another with perplexed looks on their faces. Harry breathed a sigh of relief at how quickly they got out of that situation, not wanting Louis to have played the game of Kill the Animals as he once did. An angel killing living things, now isn't that demented to think about?
"Demented, yes. We've had angels that did wrong and killed others while being guardians, and they were immediately sent to hell." replied Louis as he shook his head, looking down at their intertwined hands with a sly grin. "You haven't ever willingly held my hand before."
Harry blinked and quickly snatched his hand away, masking his embarrassment up with a fake cough, covering his mouth with his arm. "I forgot to let you go after I pulled you away, that's all. Now tell me more about this angel to devil type thing."
One thing that Harry was beginning to notice about Louis was that whenever he spoke, he began to make wild hand gestures to emphasise his point. It was endearing, only the slightest bit, and made Harry want to laugh.
"Okay, so angels get offences sort of. You're supposed to be nice and good to others, and one of the rules I could've broken today was lying. I'm only breaking it if we don't go anywhere at all, so where are we going today?" questioned Louis gleefully, looking around the neighborhood and taking in his surroundings.
"Well, there is a ton of shops around here, as well as cafes. We could catch the bus to the movies too, or-" Harry stopped speaking when he realized that Louis stopped walking beside him, turning around swiftly just to see that the angel was staring directly at a house across the street. "Louis?"
The angel didn't speak for about a minute, his lips were parted and his eyebrows were furrowed in thought, which made Harry the tiniest bit reluctant to tap him. Before Harry could repeat his name again, Louis blinked and looked at Harry again with a distressed look in his eye.
Harry placed his hand on Louis' shoulder with concern and looked him in the eye. "Hey, what happened?"
"The house. I remembered it. I saw myself sitting on the porch and-" Louis trailed off slowly, and his voice got quieter. "How about we go to the movies? That sounds fun."
Harry pondered on whether or not to keep speaking about Louis' memories, but decided not to when he saw the pleading look in his eye. He would just ask Louis about it later when they were back inside the house instead of now.
That was, if he was going to talk about it.
