When love lasts.

Christmas day.

It was Christmas Day, of course Marjorie and Reece were spending it together. They danced to Christmas songs, snuggled up on the sofa and enjoyed a few movies. They were exchanging gifts and Reece looks at Marjorie "what was Christmas like for you last year?" He asks.

Marjorie looks up at Reece "I spent it by myself, until Charlotte, your sister and a few others came over to see me" she put on a fake smile.

"I can't imagine how hard that must've been, spending Christmas alone, I'm sorry gorgeous." Reece looks upset.

"I'm so unbothered by it, looking back, Siobhan and your dad gave me the best gift I've ever had" Marjorie laughs.

"What do you mean?" Reece questions while placing a hand on her thigh.

"Well, Roger put Siobhan on the board of directors, obviously she was manager of the sister nursery at the time, But she called me, and she told me that she'd hired you" Marjorie explained.

"Wow." Reece looks shocked.

"Mhm" Marjorie agrees.

"You'll never be spending another Christmas alone though gorgeous" Reece smiles.

"Darling, I already know that." Marjorie laughs, reece notices the tears forming in her eyes.

"I'm confused, How?" Reece questions while looking rather confused and shaking his head.

"I'm pregnant." Marjorie says nearly in tears.

Reece's face lights up, he moves closer to Marjorie and is lost for words, struggling to speak.

"Say something my love." Marjorie says looking slightly concerned.

"I'm.. I'm just so happy for you gorgeous, we're having a baby?" Reece smiles.

"We are my darling. How do you feel?" She asks.

Their hands interlock and Reece says "this is crazy, we're gonna be parents."

Marjorie places a hand on her stomach and responds "mhm. this baby is very, very lucky to have you in their life."

Reece blushes slightly "by the way, when did you find out?" He asks.

"Yesterday, but I wanted to keep it as a surprise and tell you today." Marjorie smiles

"Best surprise ever." Reece says.

A week later..

It was 5pm, on a cold Monday night. Reece and Marjorie were the last two in the building, Reece's shift ended at 5:30 and so did hers.

Half an hour passed and Reece was getting ready to leave, and makes his way to Marjorie's office. He caught her asleep, curled up in her office chair. He scooped her up, carrying her to the car, in true bridal style.

Marjorie finds herself curled up on the sofa, pushing her glasses up against her nose. She was still half asleep when she called out "Reece!" There was no response. "Reece..?" She called out again.

Reece walks into the room "I'm here gorgeous" he says as he sits next to her, pushing her hair out of her face.

"I was at work? Wha-" she questions, looking confused.

Reece interrupts "you were asleep when I found you in your office, I bought you home."

"What's the time?" Marjorie asks.

"just gone 6." Reece responds.

A look of panic appears on Marjorie's face "I was writing reports, I had loads to do, why didn't you wake me up?"

Reece places a hand on her thigh "I've finished them for you gorgeous, I couldn't wake you up, you were in such a deep sleep and you need the rest." He smiles.

Marjorie places a hand on her stomach and lets out a sigh.

Reece looks worried "what's wrong?" He asks.

"It's all my fault, I'm letting everybody down.." her voice breaking as she falls into a flashback.

Marjorie's head was being flooded with many unwanted memories. Her mum was constantly blaming her for everything growing up and telling her that everything was her fault. Her mother's exact words came into mind "nobody will ever love you, you're a disappointment."

Her flashback was interrupted by Reece frantically waving his hand in front of her face. Marjorie was nearly in tears when she said "sorry."

Reece hugged her "you're not letting anyone down sweetheart, I love you."

She looks up at Reece "I am, there's so much work that I need to catch up on, I keep falling asleep or zoning out."

Reece hated seeing Marjorie upset, it made his heart ache. "You'll be okay gorgeous, it might be difficult now but it'll get better before you know it." He says.

"I hope so-" she covers her mouth and gags, she turns pale and rushes to the bathroom. Reece follows her and holds her hair back as she violently throws up, rubbing her back until it passes. "Hey- I'm here" he says.

"Thank-you" she says, falling down into his arms.

"I'll Always be here" Reece responds, placing a kiss on her head.

Marjorie looked uncomfortable, and rather embarrassed, she felt like a burden, she loved Reece very much however she felt terrible since he's been doing her so many favours and comforting her recently. She wanted to do something nice for him.

Reece sat with Marjorie comforting her for a few moments until she began to purge again, coughing and spluttering. Reece hated to see her in such pain "I've got you" he says softly.

Marjorie wipes her mouth and pushes out the words "I'm sorry."

"Don't apologise gorgeous." It's not your fault, you don't deserve this.  "I'll call in sick for you in the morning, I don't think you should go in tomorrow." He says tucking a strand of cherry red hair behind her ear.

"Okay, I think I'm gonna go and get some rest." Marjorie smiles and slowly gets up, feeling weak and tired as she carefully got into bed.

Reece goes downstairs and started making her favourite meal along with an ice cold glass of water and some pain killers. Once he was finished, he carried it all upstairs on a tray and silently entered the bedroom. He watched her eyes flutter open and her face lit up.

"Oh Reece, thank-you" she smiled.

"Not a problem gorgeous, do you want me to run you a bath or anything?" He asks.

"Not yet, I want you here with me." She says meekly, pulling Reece down next to her. It only took a few minutes before the two were fast asleep in each-other's arms.
