Chapter 2

The alarm rang out, sharp and shrill, jolting Jisung awake. He reached over, smacking his alarm clock before flopping back down, staring up at the ceiling. It was his first day at a new school. The thought sent a jolt through his sleepy mind, and he scrambled out of bed to get ready.

As he pulled on his uniform and ran a brush through his hair, he could smell breakfast already cooking downstairs. His dad always made sure he ate well, especially on big days like this. Jisung's stomach grumbled as he jogged down the stairs.

"There's my new high schooler," his dad said, setting a plate of scrambled eggs and toast in front of him. "Excited for today?"

Jisung shrugged, but his smile betrayed him. "A little nervous, I guess. New people, new everything."

"You'll do fine. Just be yourself."

Jisung nodded, scarfing down his food. Soon, he was out the door, waiting at the bus stop, feeling the crisp morning air on his skin. The bus pulled up, and he climbed on, watching as unfamiliar faces passed him by.

At school, he took a deep breath and tried to follow the map of classrooms he'd been given. Just as he turned a corner, he bumped into someone solid, and before he knew it, he was on the floor.

"Oh, uh—sorry—" he stammered, looking up. His words faded as he recognized the guy from the park. It was him.

The boy looked down at Jisung, and for a second, his face seemed familiar. But he didn't say anything. He just stared, almost as if he was assessing Jisung, like he was nothing more than an obstacle in his way.

Jisung sat frozen on the floor, his heart pounding. This close up, his mysterious crush looked even more striking, with dark eyes that seemed almost too intense. But just as quickly as the moment happened, it was over. The boy's expression turned impassive, and he stepped around Jisung without a word.

Jisung blinked, watching him walk off, feeling a strange mix of awe and embarrassment. Wow, first he claims his spot in the park, and now he's claiming the hallways too? He couldn't help but grin, pushing himself up and brushing off his uniform.

After a bit more wandering, he finally found his classroom. His teacher looked up as he entered, her face brightening. "Ah, you must be Han Jisung, our new student! Come on up and introduce yourself to the class."

Jisung felt his face go warm, but he walked to the front of the room, turning to face his classmates. "Hi, I'm Han Jisung. I just moved here, so...uh, nice to meet you all."

His gaze scanned the room, and his heart skipped when he spotted him sitting near the middle of the classroom, watching with mild curiosity. Jisung's face went red as he realized he'd locked eyes with him. The guy from the park is in my class?!

"Alright, Jisung, why don't you go sit over there next to Minho," his teacher said, pointing directly at his crush. Jisung's heart hammered as he walked over, trying not to let his nerves show. He could feel Minho watching him as he sat down.

The class went on, but Jisung found it hard to concentrate. He kept glancing over, catching glimpses of Minho scribbling in his notebook with complete focus. He seemed to be one of those people who radiated calm intelligence and apparently, he was the class president too. Everything about Minho seemed intimidating, yet Jisung couldn't help but feel intrigued.

When the lunch bell finally rang, Jisung felt a sense of relief. He grabbed his lunch and looked around the cafeteria, feeling awkward as he searched for a place to sit. He found an empty table in the corner and sat down, staring at his food with little appetite.

"Hey, you're Jisung, right?"

Jisung looked up to see a boy with a friendly smile, holding his lunch tray. "I'm Jeongin! We're in the same class. Mind if I sit with you?"

"Sure!" Jisung replied, feeling grateful for the company.

Jeongin sat down, immediately diving into his food. "So, how's your first day going?"

"It's been...interesting," Jisung said, thinking about his unexpected reunion with Minho.

"Interesting, huh?" Jeongin grinned. "Did you meet anyone yet?"

Jisung hesitated, then said, "Uh...kind of. There's this guy in our class...Minho? I ran into him earlier."

Jeongin's eyes widened, and he let out a low whistle. "Oh, you've already met Minho? That's impressive. He's pretty much the most popular guy in school. Top of the class, class president, valedictorian in the making. Not to mention, he's kind of...well, cold to people."

Jisung's heart sank a little. "Cold?"

Jeongin shrugged. "Yeah, he doesn't really talk to anyone unless he has to. And don't even get me started on the girls—he's rejected so many confessions, it's like he has a 'no dating' rule or something."

Jisung couldn't help feeling a bit disappointed. But then Jeongin leaned in with a grin. "There's this rumor, though, that Minho might be...well, gay."

Jisung's eyes widened, and a spark of hope flickered inside him. "Really?"

Jeongin nodded. "Yeah, but who knows if it's true. He's so hard to read that no one really knows what he's thinking. He keeps to himself."

Jisung's mind buzzed with curiosity. Minho, the popular, mysterious, and possibly gay guy in my class... This day had taken an unexpected turn.

The rest of the school day passed in a blur. Jisung tried to keep his focus on his classes, but his thoughts kept wandering back to Minho, sitting right next to him, cool and composed as always. When the final bell rang, Jisung gathered his things and headed for the bus, still feeling that odd mix of excitement and nerves.

As he stepped off the bus near his house, he spotted a familiar figure walking ahead. Wait...is that...? Jisung's heart skipped a beat. It was Minho.

He tried to keep a safe distance, not wanting to get caught. But as he followed Minho down the street, he noticed they were walking in the same direction. He held his breath as he watched Minho turn down a side street, then another leading almost directly toward Jisung's own house.

When Minho finally disappeared into a nearby house, Jisung let out a sigh of relief. He lives in my neighborhood?! This day couldn't have been more surreal.

He shook off his surprise and headed home. As he walked in, he found his dad setting the table for dinner. "Hey, Dad."

"Hey, kiddo! How was the first day? Meet anyone interesting?"

Jisung hesitated, then smiled. "Yeah, actually...there's this guy in my class. His name's Minho. He's...different."

His dad looked up, smirking. "Different, huh? Sounds like you've already got your eye on someone."

Jisung laughed, feeling a bit shy. "Maybe. He's just...really smart, and, well, everyone kind of looks up to him."

"Well, I'm glad you've got people to look up to. That's important. Now, dig in!"

They ate dinner together, chatting about Jisung's classes and teachers. But Jisung couldn't stop his thoughts from drifting back to Minho—how composed he seemed, the way he had walked past him without a word, and that strange, unapproachable air around him.

Later, Jisung went upstairs to finish his homework. But as he opened his notebook, he found himself staring blankly at the page. Ugh, why is this so confusing? Math had never been his strong suit, and today was no exception. He frowned, tapping his pencil against the desk in frustration.

But then, his mind drifted back to Minho again. I bet he could figure this out in a second... He grinned, imagining Minho looking over his shoulder, explaining the problem with that calm, patient tone he seemed to have.

Before he knew it, his eyelids grew heavy, and he found himself dozing off, his notebook still open in front of him.

Finish! It's longer but still not enough, idk, should I make the words longer next time?
This is about 1350 plus words but it feels so short!
Anyways I hope you guys like this chapter, I'll be adding chapter 3 as fast as I can if I'm not so busy 🥳
