The next day, Morgan talked to me more surprisingly any chance he could get. I was honestly shocked because Morgan only talked to me during school to ask about an assignment or what was Grace cookin' tonight.
"Hey," Morgan greets me while I was talking to Lacy.
"Oh what's up?" I say leaning against the lockers.
"Oh uh nothing much," Morgan says. "You wanna go to the baseball field tonight?"
"Umm sure?" I said sounding unsure a little.
"Great see you then," Morgan says and walks off.
"Oh I don't like Morgan he's not my type," Lacy mocks me. "Morgan probably likes you."
"I highly doubt it," I say rolling my eyes.
"Cmon, what makes you say that?" She asked me.
"He dated KT, you know bound to be high school sweethearts," I say and started walking to class.
"They're not together anymore," Lacy says.
"Seriously?" I said sounding a little excited. "I meant, seriously?"
"See you know you like Morgan," she teased me and poking me. "So after that little baseball game you gonna go to the baseball field afterwards?"
"I guess," I said. "What's the worse that could happen?"

"Strike!" I heard the umpire call and the crowd erupts in a cheer while the opposing team was cheering.
"You know he's kinda cute when he pitches," Lacy says leaning over towards me.
We were at the towns teenage baseball team before they started playing school ball. Morgan was the pitcher and his pitches were excellent. His muscles were sticking out like crazy and I was practically drooling in my head.
"No," I denied quickly. "He's a good pitcher though I admit."
"Ball," the umpire calls and Morgan just shook his head.
"DAMMIT MORGAN," I heard Morgan's father yell. "COME ON NOW."
Morgan looked embarrassed when his father was calling him out. Morgan's Dad did this every game and it was quite embarrassing. People were murmuring amongst themselves saying they felt bad for Morgan.
Morgan threw another strike and that ended the ball game finally. I saw Jaylen and Jayden chest bump each other as they ran off cheering on the field.
As the stands cleared out I saw Morgan's Dad angrily walk towards Morgan and started scolding him.
"Lord I hope he's ok," I heard a lady nearby say. "Mike's been hard on that boy since the day he came out the womb."
"Damn shame," another lady said. "Lord bless it."
"I wish they had a softball league in town," Lacy says coming up behind me.
"Yeah," I said not really paying attention to her.
"What are you looking at?" She asked me. "Oh never mind."
Morgan was walking off the field and had an angry expression on his face. He was walking towards the bleachers and saw me.
"Hey great game tonight," I complimented him.
"Thanks," Morgan says while smiling.
"Well I'll leave you two alone," Lacy says smirking at us and walking off.
"So you wanna stay afterwards on the baseball field?" Morgan asked me.
"Yeah sure," I said. "Is your dad gonna say something?"
"Nah he won't," he said.
"We fuckin' won!" I heard Jaylen scream.
Grace shot him a dirty glare and other people were looking.
"Oops," Jaylen says and gives Grace a nervous smile.
"Hey Grace do you mind if I hang out with Morgan for a couple hours?" I asked Grace.
"What are you two up to?" Grace says folding her arms.
"Nothing ma'am," Morgan says nervously.
"I'm just kiddin'," Grace chuckles. "You two go on and have fun."

"Do you even like baseball?" I asked Morgan.
We were laying beside each other in the middle of the baseball field and looking up at the stars.
"I used to," Morgan says. "Dad ruined it all and I guess your dad is trying to not make me lose touch with the sport."
"I mean what my dad always told me," I said. "Don't lose your passion for something because someone else ruined it."
"Well too late now," Morgan says. "It's like all this pressure on me, colleges breathin' down my neck and next year they're all comin' to my games."
"Well Morgan," I say. "What do you want to be?"
Morgan sat in silence for a moment and sighed.
"You pinky promise you won't laugh?" Morgan says holding out his pinky.
"I pinky promise," I said and we hooked pinkies.
"I want to be a singer," he says. "I want to be a country singer, sing about country shit and yeah."
"Well I believe you can do it," I said. "You have a nice country tune to your voice and you're always in chorus."
"Yeah I do chorus at the church, if you even go."
"I go sometimes but not actively. You'd be a great singer anyways."
"You think I'm good enough to be on America's Got Talent?"
"Of course. You can be anything you put your mind to. I'll support you."
"Thank you Nia that means a lot," Morgan says and gives me a kiss on the cheek.
"Don't you have a girlfriend?" I blurted out.
I tried to cover it up with a laugh and Morgan gave me a smile.
"Nah, I had to let her run with the wind," Morgan says. "I think our relationship just came to an end."
"Why did you and KT break up?" I asked him. "I mean you two were bound to be high school sweethearts."
"You really thought of us like that?" Morgan chuckled. "And here I'm thinkin' Nia don't care about what I do in life."
"I'm sorry-"
"No I'm just joking, you asked I'll answer," Morgan says. "I think we broke up right after football season you know? I think me and her weren't...meant to be together right now. I had too much shit goin' on, my Dad breathing down my neck alot and just a lot of home life."
"Oh," I said. "Makes sense."
"Yeah, I sometimes wish he'd just...die," Morgan says.
"Please don't wish that. Be blessed and glad you actually have a living parent. I wish my momma was still here and for you to say that kind of hurts," I said.
"I'm sorry," he says with a softened expression on his face. "I just wish his ways would die down. You know him drinkin' a lot being hard on me about baseball. You know."
"That's better," I chuckled.
Me and Morgan talked about nothing like we had all the time in the world together. The more me and Morgan talked the more I knew about him and enjoyed his company. It was like all the hate I had for him had disappeared.
"Thanks for listening Nia," he thanked me.
"Surprisingly you didn't call me Knee," I chuckled. "But you're welcome and I'm always here to talk."
"Yeah," he says.
We were inches away from each others faces and staring into each others eyes, the next thing you know we kissed and I didn't even resist. I didn't even gag or say anything I just let it happen. His lips were soft and wonderful and I was just enjoying the moment.
