Olivette

Training continued to be brutal. One day we'd be using weapons on dummies, another we'd be in the ring with no weapons, just bare fists. However, now we were sparring with each other with weapons. All of us rotated weapons, an idea Cayden came up with so we can get accustomed to using whatever is on hand. Within just a week a wall began to be constructed around the town and most of the buildings were combined with each other.

Each of us got our own room, across from me was Eveline, who I'd become quite close to, beside her room was Elio, then Tarian, and across from both of them was Cayden and Chet. The rooms were spacious but not luxurious by any means. However, I did have a dart board in my room with a stick figure drawing of Caspian stapled to it.

They even constructed stables out of one of the store fronts. I moved all the horses from the old stable at my house to the new one so I could take better care of them. I even found Rita still saddled up just like my father left her. I knew what each of the horses' fate would be. They would be used as war horses especially among the six in our unit. However, Ezra refused to let anyone else ride him but me, Sergeant Moores discovered that when I had to bring the other horses over and left Ezra unattended for a moment.

Training for the day had just ended about an hour before when I heard a knock at my door. I stopped throwing knives and darts at the dart board. "Come in." I spoke loud enough for the person on the other side of the door to hear. "Hey Olivette!" Evenline smiled as she walked in, Elio behind her. Elio gave a silent wave and a small timid smile. He wasn't a big talker but he was nothing but kind to everyone.

"Hey Eve, Elio." I used Evenline's nickname I gave her. "What can I do for you?" I sat up on my bed eager to listen to why they had come to my room. Eve smiled and looked up to her giant companion. He had lost a lot of weight since training began. He wasn't skinny but his meaty limps were starting to become toned and muscular. "Um" Elio began, "Can we go see the horses." He was nervous.

I paused wondering why they asked me such an unnecessary question, "Of course you can. I don't know why you guys are asking me." Eve's eyes sparked, "Elio I told you she wouldn't say no!" Her honey eyes seemed brighter as she chuckled, "Elio was nervous because they were your horses. He didn't want to go without permission and face the wicked wrath of Olivette!" Elio ruffed his hair with his hand and I laughed at Eve's words. "Come on, I'll go down with you guys. Ezra probably misses me anyways." Eve's smile widened.

Everyone had become close within just a week. Eve had befriended everyone including Chet. Tarian was a friend of Chet's even before the wizards came. Cayden didn't really talk to anyone besides me and Tarian. Everyone had a reason to fight. Elio's mother was murdered in front of his eyes, Tarian's little sister and mother were taken, his father was murdered, Cayden didn't speak much but said that his elder brother who was taking care of him was taken, and Chet finally confirmed that his father had been murdered.

Then there was me. I never told anyone about Caspian. How I had loved him, actually loved him. I even thought he'd be my husband one day. I clicked my tongue at the memory. "What's the matter Olivette?" Elio questioned beside me. I did not turn my head, just gazed at him with my eyes before they returned to look forward, "Just thinking about the wizards."

The mood immediately became sour. "We'll kill them. Every last one of them. I won't allow another child to face the same tragedies as the children here." Eve cursed, her eyes growing darker. Even Elio's face contorted into resentment to wizards. "That we will. However, we still have a long way to go till that time comes. Till we can actually battle with them and kill them." I worded carefully. Elio scrunched his nose in annoyance, "I could kill now." I didn't doubt Elio. He was kind to his comrades and companions but once you were on the other side of his wrath, you'd be better off just allowing him to kill you.
