[Eira's POV]

The days drifted by, blurring one into the next, yet each morning I found myself with a strange, unspoken anticipation as I settled into my usual window seat on the bus. It had become almost a ritual—glancing out, eyes scanning the road as we merged onto the main street, hoping for just a glimpse of him. I told myself it was silly, a childish wish that had no basis in reality, yet there was something about that fleeting encounter that had marked me.

Every time the bus passed by the spots where I'd seen him, my heart would leap, as if it had been waiting for that moment. But each time, I was met only with the familiar, empty stretch of road. There was no rumble of his Bullet bike, no flash of his tattooed arm or that intense, focused expression he wore as he rode. The world around me was the same as ever, yet it somehow felt emptier, like something important was missing. I tried to shake off the feeling, but every time the bus hit that stretch of road, I couldn't help but look, as if he might magically appear.

I didn't tell anyone about him. Not even Arjun or Sam, my best friends, who usually knew every little detail of my life. The three of us had been inseparable since childhood, bound by late-night study sessions, silly dares, and countless hours spent laughing over cups of terrible hostel coffee.

"Alright, seriously," Sam said one morning, his voice breaking through the quiet of the bus. "Why do you always stare out the window when we hit the main street? Is there a hidden treasure out there or something?" What are you really looking for, huh? A unicorn?"

Arjun jumped in, grinning. "Maybe she's secretly in love with a traffic light. You know, the one that blinks green every morning. It's a real heartbreaker."

Or maybe the world's last packet of chips? Because you're glued to that window like you're expecting a sign from the gods."

I blinked, startled. "What? No, I'm just... thinking.

Sam, who had been quiet for a while, finally spoke up. His voice was calm, but there was an edge of determination in it. We've all got a lot on our plates right now. Final semester, interviews, exams—it's a lot. But you can't let distractions take over. We've been talking about focusing, and this is the time we really need to push ourselves.

Arjun, who had been following the conversation closely, nodded in agreement. "Yeah, Sam's right. We've all got to be in it together, pushing ourselves through the last stretch. We've worked this hard, and we can't let a daydream throw us off.

I sighed, feeling the weight of their words. Sam and I had been through so much together since childhood—he knew exactly when to push me and when to hold back. And now, in our final semester, I could see how much this meant to all of us. It wasn't just about getting through the exams or interviews—it was about setting ourselves up for the future. If we wanted to be ready, we had to keep our heads in the game.

Arjun gave a thumbs-up from the back of the bus. "Exactly. We'll get through this together. Let's not let anything, even a passing distraction, stand in our way."

As the bus rolled on, I looked out the window one last time. The road was still the same—empty, quiet, and routine—but for some reason, it felt a little different now. I wasn't just waiting for something to happen. I was ready to make it happen.
