chapter twenty nine|| Eyes talk||
Russia Moscow;
Jungkook's calm façade shattered as he ran through the blood-soaked hall, a rising panic taking over. Taehyung wasn't just his boss—he was family, a brother in arms. Every fallen guard made his pulse race faster, each step echoing louder than the last. The once pristine hallway was a graveyard, and dread settled heavily in his chest as he passed the unconscious maids sprawled across the marble floor.
Finally, Jungkook's eyes locked onto the study room door. Low groans escaped from behind it. With renewed urgency, he pushed the door open and froze at the sight before him. Taehyung lay crumpled, his face pale, his breathing shallow. But he was alive.
Jungkook crouched beside him, a flood of relief washing over him. "Taehyung, come on, hold my hand. I'm getting you to the hospital now."
Taehyung shook his head weakly, curling up, his voice a broken whisper. "No... no, I can't. I have nothing left. She... she took everything. My power, my control—it's all gone!" His voice cracked, the weight of his despair pressing him down.
"Stop it, Tae," Jungkook's voice was firm, almost desperate. "No one can take your power. We'll fix this. Just come with me." He reached out, but Taehyung didn't move, his gaze distant, lost in his pain.
Taehyung's voice was barely a whisper, each word tinged with a pain deeper than the physical wounds. "She took everything I had, everything I was living for... my power, my diamonds. I'm... I'm useless now. My father was right. I can't do anything." He looked away, eyes hollow with regret, but winced as Jungkook forced him up, supporting him as they staggered out of the blood-soaked room.
Jungkook's frustration broke through. "You knew she'd go back to him eventually, Taehyung. Then why the hell did you let her stay? You're smarter than this," he snapped, half-carrying him through the corridor.
Taehyung's head dropped, a bitter, empty chuckle escaping his lips. "I... I used her too, Jungkook. I was blinded by greed. I wanted Jimin's diamond—his legacy. I needed his genetics, and she was pregnant with his child. So... I let her stay, knowing full well what it might cost."
Jungkook's jaw tightened, anger and disappointment in his tone. "You didn't just want the diamonds, Taehyung. You loved her. Don't lie to yourself. Was it only about the diamonds?"
Taehyung's gaze faltered, the truth too heavy to deny. "Maybe I should've killed her, like everyone said. But... I couldn't. I took care of her, let her in... and that's when she bit me, like a snake I'd trusted." Jungkook placed him gently in the back seat, shutting the door.
