Serendipity

Chapter 36

It's been a week since the party, and Matt and I have been stronger than ever. He feels the need to give me special treatment to make up for how he acted like a dick, and I'm not complaining.

After all of my classes one night I get a phone call. I don't recognize the number but I answer anyway.

K: Hello?
D: Kat? Hi it's David.
K: Dad?
D: Yeah, uh I was wondering if you would come to my wedding on Saturday.
K: Your wedding?
D: Yeah, I'm getting remarried, Her names Sarah, she has a set of twins. Candace and Daniel.
K: Can I bring my boyfriend?
D: Of course.
K: What's the color scheme?
D: Black and purple.
K: We will be there. Can you text me the address?
D: Yeah. I can't wait to see you.
K: Yeah. I've gotta go.
D: Okay see you in two days.
K: Alright bye.
D: Bye Kat.

I hang up and go into the kitchen where Matt is making Pancakes for dinner.

"I just got off the phone with my dad, and he wants us to come to his wedding on Saturday."

Matt stops cooking and turns to look at me.

"Are you okay with going to his wedding?"

I nod and he gives me a small smile.

"I would love to go."

"Then it's settled. We will go to my dads wedding on Saturday!" I kiss his cheek.

"I don't have anything to wear."

"Me either. Matt could you take us shopping after dinner?" He nods and we sit down at the table, digging into a fresh pile of homemade pancakes.

After dinner we clean up the dishes and we head down to the car. I turn up the radio as Matt pulls on to the highway.

We sing along the entire ride, and I start to think about the first day we met. Matt puts his hand on my thigh and looks over at me.

"What're you thinking about beautiful?" I blush and look at him.

"Do you remember the first night we met, and I accidentally called you baby? And you threw my cigarettes out the window?" He laughs.

"Yeah I do. I knew that first night that I wanted to be with you." I smile.

"Me too."

We arrive at the mall and head into Macy's.  I tell Matt the colors, and we head out separate ways. I find my way over to the women's department and start the hunt for a dress.

I look through a few racks before I spot the perfect one. It has a sweetheart neckline and its beaded. It's strapless and comes to mid thigh. I'm in love.

The color is exactly what I'm looking for. It's a light purple, that looks good with my hair. I grab it and head over to the shoe department.

I find a pair of silver stilettos, and they go great with the dress. I quickly pay for my things and sit on a bench outside the store.

A few minutes later Matt comes out bags in hand.

"That was easy Kat!" I smile and stand up, grabbing his hand.

"Wait until the wedding babe."

I awaken to a loud beeping noise coming from my phone. I roll over and turn it off, closing my eyes again. As I'm about to fall back asleep I shoot out of bed startling Matthew. Today is the day of the wedding!
