After giving their Statements to the police Stephen drags Aurora to the car. Once there he throws the Stuff that trey bought into the boot of the car before getting in
"We are going to go to your house Aurora and grab anything and everything that's valuable and leave," Stephen growls.
"And go where, Stephen?!?" Aurora snapped, crossing her arms as she settled into the passenger seat. She could feel the weight of his urgency, but she wasn't ready to let him make every decision on her behalf.
"Somewhere safer," Stephen replied, his tone still sharp but softening as he glanced over at her. "Somewhere they won't find you. If they managed to get to Rory here, they'll try again."
Aurora clenched her fists, frustrated but knowing he was right. "They have no reason to come after me, Stephen. I'm not involved in any of this—"
"Not involved?" Stephen's voice was barely above a whisper, his eyes narrowing. "After what just happened, you're very much involved, Aurora. Whoever's after Rory won't stop until they get what they want. That means taking out anyone close to him. Including you."
Aurora felt a chill run down her spine as she looked out the window, watching the rain begin to trickle down the glass. "Fine," she muttered. "But you're going to have to tell me everything. No more keeping me in the dark."
Stephen tightened his grip on the steering wheel, hesitating for a moment before he nodded. "I'll tell you everything. But first, let's get you somewhere safe."
"Wait what about the letters?" Aurora asked, her voice edged with urgency. She turned in her seat, staring at Stephen with wide eyes.
Stephen paused, exhaling as his grip on the steering wheel relaxed slightly. "The letters... right." He looked off into the distance for a moment, as if weighing something heavy. "They could be important. They might hold some answers, something that explains why they are after you are in trouble."
"They've been coming to my house. Every single one of them even if they haven't been addressed to me but they have my address on them," Aurora informs him
"Why the hell did you not tell me that little detail before Rory?" Stephen exclaims
"Because it seemed insignificant till now Scar that's why!"
"How long have they been coming now?" Stephen asks
"Every day for the past 7 months now. I think?" Aurora replies
"Why the hell have I not seen them then?" Stephen asks
"I wake up earlier then you remember? I been just leaving them in a draw in the office," Aurora says exasperated
Stephen ran a hand through his hair, frustration evident in his eyes as he turned the car onto a quieter road, away from the scene. The weight of Aurora's revelation settled between them, heavy and unsettling. The fact that she had been receiving those letters for months—months—and hadn't said a word was enough to make his blood boil, but the more he thought about it, the more he realized there was probably a lot she hadn't told him.
"Seven months," he muttered, shaking his head. "And you thought they were just... what? Junk mail? Something harmless?"
Aurora's eyes flashed with irritation, but there was a flicker of guilt behind them. She had kept quiet for so long, but now that the danger was real, it was harder to stay calm about it.
"I never opened them," she admitted, her voice low. "I only recently stopped receiving them."
Stephen's jaw tightened as he processed her words. Seven months of unexplained letters, all going unopened. His mind raced, piecing together fragments of information, trying to make sense of the threat looming over Aurora and Rory.
