Arkanos sat alone in his study; the ancient book open before him. The flickering candlelight cast eerie/scary shadows on the walls as he read the old, faded text. His heart pounded as he came across a story that chilled him to the bone.
"It told long ago, there was a story about a person who had tried to break a powerful curse. This person had fallen deeply in love with someone who was cursed. The only way to break the curse was to kill the cursed person. But the thought of doing such a terrible thing to the one he loved was unbearable. The idea of hurting his beloved caused him so much pain that he couldn't bring himself to do it.
In the end, he couldn't live without his beloved, so he took his own life. When the cursed person discovered that the one he loved had died, he was filled with overwhelming grief. The sorrow was so great that he, too, ended his own life. This tragic story showed how deep their love was, but also how hopeless the situation seemed."
When Arkanos read this story, it made him very sad. He was worried about Ember because Arkanos could see that Ember was beginning to care too much for Novean, a person who was connected to the curse. Deep in his heart, Arkanos feared that Ember's growing feelings for Novean might lead to something similar to the old tragic story.
Ember was special, unlike anyone else. Because he had come into the world in a miraculous way. Ember was born during the Celestia Convergence, a rare and magical event when the stars and heavens aligned. A prophecy had once foretold that someone born in this unique and magical way, just like Ember, would be the one to break the curse.
