The news was not that surprising to the detective, In the last 6 hours he had been in two shoot outs, been chased through a shanty town, had hot lead fly through him. And seen enough blood to flood the river Jordan. Yet He still felt that there was something about all these deaths. Another four and he bet his badge that there are no witnesses to this one. All seem to point to Smiles and his men. Well Spanner and his men now. First was Smiles, who could have benefited the most from his death? Then it was Toolkit. What did he know? Did he find the real identity of the killer? Is that why he was shot. He was also Smile’s man. Then there was the chase and shootout at the Jika Joes. Amahle states they are Smile’s men. Now a man from the same gang is arrested in connection with four more deaths. All seem to point to Smile’s gang. But a dead man cannot control things from the shadows. Who was in control now. He needed to find out who was in control now. “I am dropping you off only detective. If Captain sees me, I am not going to rest”

“I understand, I’ll ask anyone on duty to take me home, See you in the morning.” James said this as he stepped put the car and watched it drive off. He walked towards the station. Entering he expected the noisy chaotic setting he had left earlier that night but found silence. It was as if the arrests had not happened. At the door he met Kraft on his way home. “Captain, where are they holding the suspect?” he asked. Kraft waved James away saying “Andrews has that covered. Go home and rest James, I heard you had quiet an eventful evening”

“You heard about that?” asked James as he saw a lecture coming. “, you’re full of blood that clearly not yours and Mazibuko reported the incident as you should have done. Protocol James, follow them. Another shootout without back up, what if this time you were gunned down and killed?”

“I had the constable with me”

“He is barely back up James and you know it, I am not in the mood of burying Officers, especially those under my care. You follow protocol or…” A constable was passing by and upon seeing Kraft handed him a document, this bought silence to the conversation. In a lowered voice Kraft continued “You follow protocol or hand in your badge”

“Is that a threat Captain?”

“Consider it your final verbal warning, detective.” Kraft walked out the station and too his car, leaving James staring at the floor and in the same mood he was in when he arrived at the hospital with a bloody Amahle. He looked around the station, thinking about what to do, he could not go home, that was far from what he wanted to do. Standing there for a few seconds, he decided to visit Zulu, if she was still in, she must have already gone through the bodies, she might have some answers and clues that link the all the events together.

Meanwhile…

A car skidded as it came to a halt in front of Thando. The speeding car was heard before it was seen. The music woke half the neighbourhood. Breaking the silences that had established in the quiet neighbourhood of Wembley. Thando stared as he did not recognize the car. The window rolled down and a black bold hairless face popped out the window. “Holla, get in” said Izek his eyes covered by dark shades that made it difficult to recognize me in the darkness, only aided by the streetlights. “Where is my driver?” asked Thando. “He had a early night, My boss wants to talk to you”

“Well he will have to talk to mine, that how things work-”

“I don’t think he is asking” Izek turns to Fabian who is on the driver’s side “Fabz, He was not asking right?”

“The boss never asks” Is all Fabian said as he kept his eyes on the road. Thando, giving up opened the passenger’s door and stepped into the back seat. He barely closed the door when the car skidded off, leaving a grey smoke where it once stood.
