Life sat in his office. His feet were up on the desk, he was slumped in his seat, and he sat very casually at his golden coloured desk. His office was cluttered and untidy, with books stacked in the corner, a few crumpled pieces of paper on the desk. Golden coloured furniture was dotted around the room, from gold bookcases to the gold and white plush chairs pushed in front of his desk. A large golden chandelier lit up the room and shone brightly off of the large white marble floor. His white robe draped off his body slightly and onto the floor. He casually threw a red apple up and down in the air. He casually opened his old-timey computer to check a few files, when he realized something was off…

Death sat in his usual spot. A large, tidy, dark office. He sat up straight and tall, almost stiffly. He typed on his computer, his large, slender fingers tapping away at the keys. His elegant black robe draped across the floor behind his wooden desk. A black plastic landline sat on his desk. The lights were dim and reflected off of the shiny, black, marble tiles on the floor. His walls were a dark floral pattern, and he sat in a large leather desk chair. A chill lingered in the air, any passing souls shiver in the presence of it. His fingers continued to type on his computer, before the landline on his desk let out a high ringing sound. He sighed deeply. He reached over to the phone and picked it up before sitting back down, crossing his legs. “Selene, if this is another call about that souls protest group, I will-” a woman on the other end of the line cut him off. “Uh, no, sir. Although that does need to be addressed…It's actually a call from…Heaven…?”

At that, he chokes on air, coughing relentlessly before regaining his serious manner “What. What does HE want?” He exclaimed aggressively. “You’re asking me like I know, sir.” He rolled his eyes. “Don't get cheeky with me. Just pass me over to the other line, will you?” The woman on the other end of the line sighed and chuckled slightly. “Of course, Mr. Reaper, I'll see you at lunch.” and with that, he was transferred over to the other line.

He was greeted with a warm welcome. “Hey! Thanatos! Long time no see, buddy, how's it going down there?” said a cheerful voice at the other end of the line. It was the unmistakable voice of the one and only, God of Life himself. Death sighed. “Hello, Phanes…don't call me that…ever.” He replied in a cold tone.

“Of course, yeah, you like to keep it professional…” Phanes said in a slightly jeering tone. “Big businessman down there, can't have any fun, clearly…” He said, an aftertaste of flirtiness in his tone. Thanatos scowled, clearly not happy with his flirting in business hours. “Did you call solely for the reason of flirting with me? Because I have things to do, and you’re wasting my time with romantic antics I will not indulge in.” Phanes chuckled on the other end of the line, and then it slowly faded away. “Uhh, yeah, I do have some pretty..serious..business to discuss with you.. Urgently.” He says with a slightly worried and anxious tone, his voice now significantly less cheerful. Although he took this into account, Thanatos completely disregarded the serious aspect of the situation for the time being. “You? Serious? I've never heard something more ridiculous in my life. What is it? Did your hamster die? Did your favorite soul pass away? Aww, you poor little-” He spoke in a mocking tone, before his teasing was abruptly run short by Phanes interrupting him. “The numbers are off.” He blurted out, his tone panicked.

Thanatos stopped pacing around his office, and stopped for a few seconds. He shook his head. “No. The numbers haven't been ‘off’ in 20,000 years of Olympus! Recount them, reboot the system, I-!” his voice broke. Phanes spoke in his turn. “I'm being serious. And it's only a matter of time before that soul catches up to us. Rumors are saying that it's an unforgiving spirit…” Thanatos frowned, growling slightly. “Of course you're one to believe careless rumors. It's probably just a spirit lost in the tunnels. I'll get Celeste to check it out, okay?” He said, seemingly having found a solution to their problem. Well, before Phanes exposed some unknown information. “Uh..well, about that..they're not down there with you.”  “H-How can you be so sure? I mean it-”

Phanes sighed. “There's… been a bit of..commotion up at the front desk…” Thanatos’ eyes widened, growling and suddenly frowning. “What do you mean, Phanes.” Phanes winced, taking a sharp breath in. “They're trying to get.. How to put this…back into…the realm of the living.” Thanatos put his head in this palm, sighing. “Ill be right up…”  “Thank you…” Phanes said worriedly before putting the phone back into its station.
