As Thanatos arrived in the Department for the Creation of Life (otherwise referred to as DCL by the people of Olympus) he walked up to the front desk, before he was abruptly stopped by a large gust of stormy wind whooshing past him. This wind swept him off his feet and he went crashing to the ground. He looked around, and saw Phanes standing next to him, smirking. “How’s the weather down there, bud?” He giggled teasingly. Thanatos growled and stood up, gently brushing out any wrinkles in his cloak. “I don't think you quite know the severity of the situation, Phanes…This soul is dangerous to the very concept of the living and dead. We need to send it back down into the underworld, and fast.” Phanes’ face dropped, and he sighed. “Yeah, yeah, I know…look, use your best busy businessman coercing skills and try to convince them to join the afterlife, please? They're really causing problems up here.” Thanatos huffed, brushing off his robe one more time before nodding and walking over to the front desk. And there stood the soul. Souls were magnificent creatures, a blueish-white, glowing figure that emitted an aura of calm and pleasure, a golden glowing figure in the light. -If you were a living soul that is. The afterlife souls were dark and gloomy. The once living faces of their living souls were pale and unmoving, and they always send a chill or two down your spine. Thanatos took a deep breath and casually walked up towards the soul, standing in front of it. “Uh, why hello there ma’am…my name is Thanatos, God of Death and the underworld and such…so yeah, bad news, I’m going to have to ask you to come with me”he said, relatively calm. He was almost sure the unconvincing “businessman coercing skills” had worked until- “Why the fuck would I want to do that?! I've discovered a glimpse of eternal life, why would I look back now?” hissed the spirit. Death sighed, looking at Phanes and shaking his head. The spirit disappeared as quickly as it came, whipping into nothing but a fading orb of black light. Thanatos turned to Phanes, who was watching the situation occur from behind a pillar. “Get out here, you're not a pussy.” hissed Thanatos. Phanes looked surprised at Thanatos’ casual and mildly derogatory language, and jumped out from behind the marble pillar. “This isn't good.” he whined, fiddling with his fingers. “Who could possibly be the cause of this?-” Thanatos shook his head. “Who do you think? Who is behind everything that goes wrong in olympus? This is the work of Loki, I should've never released that son of a bitch from the underworld where I caught him.” Thanatos growled. “W-well i'm sure we can fix it!” Stuttered Phanes. “Lets think, who could convince the soul to go back down to the underworld?” Thanatos scoffed. “I’m done with ‘convincing’ Phanes. Did you not see what happened just now? We need someone to banish that soul from here, for good. Phanes sighed. He had always liked to take the more peaceful approach, but in some ways, Thanatos was right. That soul wasn't going to be convinced. “Then I guess your best bet would be…Persephone.” Thanatos grinned “What do you mean ‘you’? You’re coming too.” Phanes’ eyes widened. “Me? I can’t go down there, are you insane?” Thanatos scoffed. “Well, too bad. If we’re going to convince Persephone to banish that soul forever, we’re going to need two of us.” Phanes sighed. “Okay, fine…” Thanatos smirked. “We set off tomorrow at dawn. Don’t be late” And with that, a dark portal drew from his fingers and he was gone in an instant, leaving Phanes with his thoughts.
