Wyborne, better known as Wybie, has never been allowed to step foot within the interior of the Pink Palace Apartments. His grandma has never allowed it.
Coraline Jones is the newest resident of the Pink Palace but even more famously known as the first kid to live there since Wybie's grandma was a child. The little locked door in the living room is magic- she insists it- but no one will listen to Coraline.
It was on the day the Jones family was moving in, that the two old ladies who occupied the basement apartment spent their morning gossiping at the top of the stairs. Their focus was purely on the movers working to unload the truck. Only when Wybie walked up beside them did they break away their attention to peer down at him with greeting, good mornings and of course, their ominous prophecies they spewed to anyone willing to listen.

Just when Coraline and Wybie are starting to become better acquainted, she vanishes. The adults have no idea where she has gone, her parents even suspect she has run away. No one listened to Coraline's telling of the magical door except Wybie himself. He knows the door has something to do with it.
