Chris

I set my daughter down in her bed and saw she was already asleep. I frowned. I feared this would happen. As a baby Amber had always been very in tune with emotions. One day she wouldn't stop crying no matter who held her. Finally I took her to see the Hale pack Alpha. Talia Hale knew instantly what she was, but it wasn't until Amber ended up in the arms of Peter Hale that she finally began to stop crying. She babbled and placed her little hands on his cheeks and giggled. I hadn't heard Amber do anything, except cry that day.

"What is she," Talia smiled at Amber, "your daughter is an Empath. I find it ironic that one of your daughters ends up being a part of the supernatural."

Those words came back to me and I glanced down at Amber. The spell had broken the moment she met Peter again when we moved back. She was no longer safe in my household nor with my wife. I left her room knowing that it was time for her to live separately from the rest of her family.

Amber

I woke when a ray of light shined through my curtains. I sat up and my head was pounding. I frowned when I saw that all my stuff was in boxes. My door opened and my Dad walked in. He smiled at me and then my mother came in with a frown on her face. I cringed as her emotions hit me. Disgust and disappointment. I saw a memory filter through my mind. I was a baby, with a young man that strangely resembled a young Peter Hale.

"Amber," I flinched at the sound of my mother's voice, "Victoria that's enough. Amber, are you ready to leave?"

I felt panicked.

What? I was leaving? The house or Beacon Hills?

"Where are you sending me?" My mother scoffed.

I knew she was irritated and displeased with me because those emotions were rolling off of her in waves.

"Amber," I turned to my Dad, "where are you sending me Dad? I don't want to leave Beacon Hills! Please don't send me away, please?"

I am out of bed now and I felt frantic.

Did I upset them? Would they send me away from Peter?

I looked up at my Dad and could feel the sadness rolling off of him.

"No!" I shook my head and backed away.

"Amber, sweetie. I need you to calm down and listen," I shook my head, "I'm not leaving
Beacon Hills! I'm not! Please Dad! Please! Please don't make me leave. Please!"

It felt like my chest was collapsing in on itself.

"Quit being dramatic, Amber. Why would we let you leave? We need you where we can keep an eye on you. You're a supernatural being after all." I felt anger, but it wasn't pointed at me.

"Victoria," my father never snapped at my mother, "y'know what Chris? She's your problem. She's not my daughter. I don't see how anything supernatural came from my womb. I just want her gone."

It was like time had stopped and I heard my bedroom door slam. I sat on the edge of my bed and then hands touched my face.

"Amber," it was like I was underwater, "shit."

Arms picked me up and I vaguely remember being put into a car.

Chris

I pulled up to the hospital entrance closest to Peter Hales' room. I lifted my daughter from my car and took her inside. I immediately spotted the nurse who called me last time I came here.

"Jennifer," she turned around, surprised, "what happened to her?"

"She needs Peter. He's the only one who can help her. She won't hear me. Please, Jennifer." She frowned unsure.

She stepped closer and lowered her head so she could look at Amber's face. I saw anger replace any other emotion I had seen on her face.

"Take her to his room. Lay her on the chair in there. Then you need to go home and get all of her shit and get it moved into an apartment for her. Peter will take care of her from here on out. Now go." I did as I was ordered.

I walked into Peter Hales' room and set her down on a chair. I saw a tear slide down her face and I wiped it away.

"I'm so sorry, Amber." I left.

She didn't need me anymore because I had done nothing for her. I had failed my own daughter.

Peter

I smelt Amber, but something was wrong. I also smelt salt. I looked up at her and I felt furious. She was sitting in the room, and tears were streaming down her face. I moved over to her. I placed my hands on her face and made her look at me. She was in shock.

"Amber? Come on sweet girl. I need you to look at me." She looked up at me.

She was confused. Then she closed her eyes and tears slid down her face.

"Amber? Look at me. Come on, sweetheart. I'm real." Her eyes opened.

She tilted her head and her eyes flickered all over my face.

"How are you awake? I thought you were, how?" Her lower lip began to tremble.

"Hey, what happened?" She bit her lip.

She looked down and a sob caught in her throat.

"My mother basically said I'm not her daughter. That I wasn't welcome at home. Just because I was supernatural, she wanted nothing to do with me. I don't know where I'm going to go or what I'm going to do. I'm all alone." She started sobbing again.

I pulled her into my arms. I was so furious I wanted to murder her mother, but she didn't need my anger right now. She needed me to be her anchor. I remembered her now. As a baby she was brought to the Hale house screaming. Talia knew what she was right off the bat. I took one look at her and she quieted down. Then she was in my arms and giggling. When it was time for her to leave all she did was scream and reach her little arms out for me. I felt Amber pull away and she looked up at me confused.

"What was that? That was me as a baby. I saw that same thing with my dad. What was that?" She was trying not to cry.

"A memory," she bit her lip, "your father brought you to my pack. Everyone heard you that day. The wolves ears were affected by your screams. The moment you saw me you became quiet. Then I got you in my arms and you were a completely different baby. You giggled and laughed. You were happy."

She smiled at me, "so I was happy with you? I felt safe with you just like I do now?"

I nodded. She bit her lip and her eyes met mine.

"How are you awake? How? I thought you were paraplegic," I pulled her into my arms, "I'm a wolf little one. I started healing when I became the Alpha. By night I was the Alpha, by day I was a paraplegic. It was the only way I could regain my strength."

She rested her head against my chest and nodded. She was relaxed and I could feel that she felt safe. Jennifer came in and walked over to us.

"We need to get you out of here, Amber. Peter, your nephew is here. It's time to leave the room. He's coming to visit." Amber pulled away from me and looked up at me.

"I, I don't want to leave." Jennifer rested her hands on Amber's shoulders.

"We won't leave the hospital. We'll just leave the room, sweetie." Amber nodded and followed Jennifer out.
