Nae dressed carefully for her dinner date with Them, choosing a flowing black gown that highlighted her curves. As she descended the stairs, her grandmother, Gogo, looked up from her knitting.

"Where are you off to, Nae?" Gogo asked, her eyes twinkling.

"Dinner with a friend," Nae replied, trying to sound casual.

Gogo's knowing smile made Nae blush.

Them arrived promptly at 7, looking dashing in his tailored suit. As they drove through Cape Town's scenic roads, Nae felt at ease in his presence.

At the restaurant, Them ordered for them both, his knowledge of fine dining impressive. Over candlelight, they discussed everything from art to politics.

But as the night wore on, Nae sensed Them hiding something. She couldn't quite put her finger on it.

"Dessert?" Them asked, his eyes sparkling.

Nae nodded, and Them signaled the waiter.

As they walked out, Them's phone buzzed. He glanced at the screen, his expression darkening.

"Sorry, I need to take this," he said, stepping away.

Nae watched, intrigued, as Them's conversation grew heated.
