Ardesco's halls were abandoned when Raelyn walked through them. The sun shone extremely brightly through the large arched window in front of her. She passed by door after door until she stopped in front of a red one. Turning towards it she placed her hand on the doorknob. When she opened the door, she found an empty classroom. Her fingertips touched the rough wood of one of the chairs as she entered the room. The red door behind her slammed closed and Raelyn whipped her head around.

In front of the door stood a young man. Blond locks of his hair covered half of his face as he smiled at her. His name was Folainn and Raelyn had a crush on him since the moment she first laid eyes on him. The young man was gorgeous, a perfect nose, beautiful brown eyes and a bright white smile. She couldn't find a single flaw in his features. Folainn truly was perfect. He slowly approached her as she held her breath, afraid to move or speak. He placed his hands on her lower arms, and she could feel the warmth of his body when he pulled her against him. Her heart was racing when she saw his face coming closer to hers.

She hadn't been kissed before in her life. Her eyes fell shut when she awaited his soft lips against hers, but instead she felt something thin and wet across her cheek. Raelyn opened her eyes and looked right into the yellow eyes of Rakz who tilted his head in an expression of confusion.

"A dream...again." She thought to herself.

When she looked out of her window, she saw the sun rising over the hill. Beams of light shining down on her.

"Time for work." She sighed

Raelyn got dressed in the same clothes she had worn the day before. Rakz jumped up the chest beside her mattress as she took a knife and cut herself a slice of bread to put it in a self-made pocket of her tunic. Then she took a ribbon and bound her hair in a ponytail. Rakz looked up at her and she scratched his neck before picking him up. She opened the window as she cradled Rakz in her free arm.

"Be a good boy today Rakz." She smiled, looking down at her tiny companion.

Rakz looked up at her as his split tongue flashed out of his mouth. Raelyn took the lizard in both of her hands and raised it up to her face. Closing her eyes, she placed her forehead against his.

"Happy hunting Rakz." She said after a few seconds.

Raelyn placed Rakz on the branch near her window. The lizard settled on the branch and looked back at Raelyn, waiting for her. Raelyn chuckled.

"Go on boy. I will see you tonight."

Rakz tilted his head slightly before turning away from her and crawled along the branch and tree down to the grass, making his way back to the forest. Raelyn kept looking at him until the moment she lost sight of him between the trees.

When Raelyn came down the stairs to an empty tavern, she walked straight to the door.

"Your rent is late girl." She heard Ranati call. Raelyn turned around to the stout woman and forced a smile.

"Today is my payday, I will pay you the rent tonight." She answered. Ranati stared at her and shook her head.

"You better." She said "Or..." But Raelyn interrupted her.

"Or you will kick me out." She rolled her eyes and turned around to open the door "I'm aware." Raelyn said as she left the tavern and made her way to Ardesco.

Her journey was not lengthy, and she soon arrived at the massive gates of Ardesco. She passed through the large arches to reach the courtyard once more. This time though, it was filled with life. Today was one of the teaching days of the school of magic. Students, maids, and magi filled the court as Raelyn made her way through it. She maneuvered her way past many students before something caught her eye on her left. She turned to look, and time seemed to slow down.
