"My name is Jeanne, I'm 14 years old, and I don't understand. I don't understand why people spend their time judging, harassing, and putting others down just because they are 'different.' Honestly, to me, it doesn't even make sense. My brain wasn't made to understand this obsession people have with classifying everything, deciding what's 'normal' and what's not.
Because, deep down, what is 'normality'? Who exactly decided that a certain way of loving, living, dressing, or thinking is better than another? The truth is, nothing is truly normal. Beauty, love, life choices—these are all subjective. That means everyone sees things in their own way, and that's exactly what makes the world interesting.
Imagine, if for centuries, we had decided that homosexuality was 'normal' and that heterosexuality was considered strange... We'd be harassing people who love the opposite sex because they would be 'different.' This clearly shows that normality is just an invention. Something we've built over time to keep everyone in boxes, and it changes depending on the era and culture.
That's why I created the Wattpad Movement. It's a literary revolt, a call to all those who are tired of labels, judgments, and discrimination. We're going to pick up the pen, write what we feel, and denounce everything that outrages us. Because when we come together to boldly speak our minds, to defend those who are being torn apart because of some so-called 'normality,' we have the power to change things. Each text becomes a weapon, each story a cry to say that we refuse these absurd rules.
Let everyone understand that beauty is subjective, that normality doesn't really exist, that differences aren't flaws, but just what makes us human. And if some can't see that, too bad for them. We don't need them to fight for a fairer world, where everyone can be themselves without fear of being judged.
So here it is, this text is my outcry. It's me saying that all of this—this harassment, these discriminations, these violences—is absurd. I write so that maybe one day, we'll stop thinking in terms of 'normal' and start accepting people for who they are. That's the Wattpad Movement: a movement to destroy false normality and create a world where everyone has their place, no matter who they love, what they look like, or how they live."
