"Presenting to the King and Queen of Haizea, Lady Audra of North Wind House

"Presenting to the King and Queen of Haizea, Lady Audra of North Wind House. Presented by her mother, Lady Sofiane."

As mom tried to put the traditional robe of the north over my shoulders I continued to struggle as one of her ladies maids kept my torso still.
"Audra, I don't see why you have to put on such a struggle - we've talked about this for years, it was bound to happen-" Mom grumbled, finally getting the emerald green robe with a fox fur trim over my body, covering up parts of my gown, the family crest printed on its tail.

"Because, mother. It's humiliating." I shivered, the robe being considered worthless if my blood would stay running cold.
"It's apart of life, Audra." She huffed before turning me to the doors, pushing me right towards the edge as the white double doors opened up with the help of the foot guard.

There was no more complaining, my fate set in stone as I could see the cold eyes of the Queen stare down at me from 5 strides away, our King dead eye'd as usual as moms maid gave me the push forward, almost tripping me in the process.

What a way to start my introduction into ton society.

A deep breath travelled through my nostrils as my heels clicked against the thinned out carpet from years of ladies before me doing the same. Those of citizenship watched me with snidest of different reactions - royalists excited that the new heir of the North Wind House had made their title public, secret glares of those in the opposing party, happy to see my head on a pike if given the chance and finally those who had no oppinion, dead eye'd like our king who had seen years of unformed change.

Reaching the two matching thrones, I curtseyed as deep as my knees would allow, inflating out my dress before I looked up at the Queen past my bangs.

With the hint of a nod I stood back up before walking towards Lord of the South Wind House in a similar robe with his own family crest and dyed baby blue.

Through the corner of my eye I could see the queen stare down at her squire who opened up a scroll as he cleared his throat.

"Presenting our future Leaders of the North, East, South and West winds respectively. May their introduction into our open eyes be hints at our future, may their leadership carry the continued high stakes of Haizea and may their respective winds stay strong." The squire announced before slamming the scroll shut, the Queen pushing herself up, her arm around the Kings looped arm forcing him up.

"Court Adjourned." The Queen spoke in her beastly tone as she and her husband walked down the carpet, the citizens bowing as I was the first one meant to follow, followed by the future Lord of the East Wind, Lord of the South Wind and Lord of the West Wind.

As all of us backed out of the royal court, the King and Queen were escorted out as our respective parents came to collect us. Despite being of age, our actual roles wouldn't take place until one of our parents were too sick to continue or if they passed away. And personally looking at the health of my dad back home it was only in due time.

Not only would I be the first woman to run the North Wind House, I'd be the first our of the four of us to rule their respective house.

No wonder the other 3 Lords to be were staring straight at me with the intensity of a tigers locked jaw.
"See, it wasn't the end of the world." Mom reassured me, hands on my shoulders as her maid took the robe off of my shoulders.

"Not to you, but I'm sure a majority of the people outside and inside want to kill me." I whispered back harshly as I began to march towards the exit, Mom and her maid chasing after me.
"Now Audra, I'm sure that's just an overreaction - your father was the same when he was introduced!" Mom tried reassuring me - emphasis on try.

No wonder he's dying.

"Audra - Audra!" Mom called out, almost grabbing me by the back of the dress before I whipped back, slapping her hand out of the way as my skin touched the strong winds that were a regular occurrence Haizea.
"Leave me alone!" I screamed at her. "This is already stressful enough for me- I feel like everyone in that room wanted me dead, like my skin is going to be ripped off!" I ranted profusely, my breaths not even catching up to what I was saying. "You could have waited until Barrett was of age and put him before me in the line of succession - but no!" I continued before looking back at moms face.

The complete and utter hurt that made her face scrunch up, protruding her wrinkles and squishing her tear ducts, forming a wall to prevent any from falling.

Turning away, as my eyes left hers I could feel wings grow out from my back, harsh winds brushing against my clothes as I shot into the air, flying towards the north alongside the jet streams propelling the trajectory of my wings.

With wings sharp like these it was just another additive to the legend of wind fairies being the swiftest of any element, but being of a North Wind variety only concreted that stereotype into place.

Seeing the North Wind estate in the distance I aimed for my rooms balcony before landing, my wings and change of clothes whisking away in a puff of fairy dust, now back in the gown I had worn just moments earlier.

Storming into my room I swatted the baby green curtains out of the way as I ripped off my opera gloves, the jewellery chilling up my neck back down in the jewellery box it came before doing my best to undo the strings of my corset bodice, the top half slipping off my torso as I stepped over the full skirt, leaving it to rot on the floor before falling into bed which left me in just my brassiere and bloomer briefs.

Pulling the covers over me, covering up I could hear the sound of my phone vibrate as I sloppily reached over for it on the bedside table where I had left it that morning. Flipping up the cover I was given the reminder that in just a few weeks I'd be heading to Alfea's college for fairies to begin my studies of magic - something I'd need in my long list of necessities of the head of the house.

All previous heads of the North Wind had gone to Red Fountain in the past so this would be the first time this house would be ruled by a fairy.

And it'd only take 3 years.

Hopefully dad can live that long.
