The sound of laughter emerged from Jimin and Taehyung. They settled into a corner booth of the trendy bistro, the soft glow of pendant lights casting a warm hue over their table. The rich aroma of roasted garlic and fresh herbs filled the air as they browsed the menu, laughter bubbling between them.
They just couldn't wait for the weekend so they could hang out outside of work. Besides, Taehyung had felt that the smaller had grown a bit distant. He wanted to sparkle up their friendship.
"I can’t believe you actually went through with that! How many guys have asked me on a date now? You said we'd only find one, and then you delete my Tinder." Jimin whined, a playful grin on his face.
Taehyung chuckled. "I don't think I'm deleting it anytime soon. The men there are unhinged, I didn't think people were so desperate for ass. It's so entertaining to watch."
As their food arrived—a beautifully plated risotto and a vibrant salad—the conversation flowed effortlessly. They continued talking, sharing secrets and jokes, the outside world fading away.
"This is perfect." Jimin said, taking a sip of his wine, savoring the moment. "Just what I needed."
"I figured you'd be fine after a day out with your bestie. I was actually getting a little worried about you, I could see that something was bothering you, but I didn't wanna rush you into talking." Taehyung says, looking at Jimin with a concerned look
"Uh... yeah... you know the stalker issue. It's been really taking its toll on me. But it's nice to be outside and to get some air." The smaller says with a smile.
"Are you sure that's it?" Taehyung asks, eyeing Jimin suspiciously.
"Haha... of course. I'm sure." Jimin laughs awkwardly and nervously. Taehyung was usually so good at reading him, so he found it hard to lie to him.
"Oh... well, I thought I should ask because I've been looking at your collarbone. Maybe you didn't realize it... but you have a hickey."
Jimin's eyes widen, and he touches his collarbone, quickly covering it. He had made sure to put some makeup on his hickeys every day since they were refusing to fade. How did he miss the collarbone? Why now when he was meeting his very smart best friend?
"Ah, this. No... no. It's just... it's a mosquitoe bite. You know how mosquitoes be in the summer." The smaller laughs it off.
"It's winter." Tae remarks, keeping a straight face.
"It's still a mosquito bite. Let's eat." Jimin mutters while looking at the yummy food in front of them.
Taehyung raised his glass in a toast. "To friendship, delicious food and... mosquitoes."
Jimin chuckled, and they clinked their glasses, the sound echoing softly in the bustling restaurant. They start eating, both surprised about how good the meal melted in their mouths. It was savory and delicious.
As they laughed and enjoyed their meal, the door swung open, and two handsome men stepped inside. Jimin is first to see them as he's sitting facing the door. Handsome, tall, and confident with a charming smile that lit up the room. Jin being the other, while Jimin couldn’t recognize the other man.
"Are you still talking to Jin?" Jimin asks, his eyes focused on the men who made their way to their table.
"Ah yes. Oh gosh, I forgot to tell you. Jin said he'd swing by to see us for a few minutes and...."
"Hey guys." Jin greets from behind.
“Speak of the devil!" Taehyung exclaimed, waving enthusiastically. Jimin felt a mix of excitement and nerves as the two men approached their table. He was very happy to see his friend so happy.
