The sun was starting to set.
Ann was surprised how far they made it.
They breathed heavily, out of breath.
Sweat caked their foreheads. Ann chose not to drink anything, not wanting to use up her water.
She noticed a white building with an orange roof ahead.
"Hey Leon!" She yelled out.
Leon was standing by a tree looking closely at his map.
He turned to Ann.
"I think this is it" she said relieved.
Ann and Leon walked through the branches. Ann stopped in her tracks.
The hotel had been covered in people. They weren't normal.
Their skin is pasty, almost rotting. They dragged their bodies as they moved. They were violent. Damaging the exterior around them.
The hotel wasn't luxurious nor expensive looking. The pool was filled with muck, and the floor and walls covered with dirt and grime. The whole building was almost falling apart. There were around a hundred of the creatures on the Porch. Ann took out her gun.
Leon was pretty shocked by the view as well. He also had took his gun out of his waist holster
"The heck happened here?" He yelled, still trying to keep his voice down.
These zombies were smart, able to pick things up and open doors.
They tried their best to stay hidden in the bushes, watching for and dangers near them.
"How are we gonna get past them?" Ann asked frantically.
She knew this mission would involve fighting, getting injured, and going into dangerous situations. That's what she'd been training for.
However, there was no way she'd ever thought she'd be fighting off aggressive rotting humans. She never thought it would be possible
She never even once thought that these ugly, terrifying creatures could exist.
"We make a run for it, and avoid as many of them as possible." Leon blurted, he sounded confident. He then straightened himself up.
"If they come near you, fight them." His voice is strong.
Ann nodded sternly.
"We run out on three!" She said softly.
"One"
"Two"
"Three"
The agents made a run for it.
The zombies spotted them right away. Running after them.
Ann fired her gun, hitting them between their eyes. As more zombies surrounded them, Ann ran through the porch. Ducking and swinging at any other zombies that tried to grab her. Getting rid of the zombies is one thing, but saving as many bullets as possible was another.
An idea sparked in her head
She brought out her pocket knife and swung at them.
She frantically looked for a safe spot she could enter, or hide.
"Ann!" Leon called out from across the porch
Ann turned to him, almost getting grabbed by other zombie
"Over there by the bar!" He yelled.
Ann looked to the bar in front of them.
It was ransacked, but clear of zombies. Behind it was a door leading to the inside. Ann swung at a few more zombies, before running as fast as she could before the others could get her.
