Long ago, many generations before you and I inhabited the earth, there lived a people very similar to us. Only at this time, the population of mankind was slowly dwindling in numbers. You see, before the time of our reign over the planet, we lived in a world ruled by Gods and Demons.
The Goddess over this land was fearful as the Demon race began to grow exceedingly and at a rapid rate. She could not control their evil. The Demons were determined to drive the humans and elves into extinction, and they were fueled by hate for anything good. As the Demon's powers grew stronger, the once life-filled forests weakened, giving way to a wasteland of demonic entities and beasts.
The Demons planned a final battle; a doomsday. The day they would finally rule the lands. It was a bloodbath. Many of the Gods were destroyed, and those who remained hid themselves in the mountains and under the earth. Human villages were decimated, and only one remained completely intact.
In her last moments of strength, the Goddess lifted the village of Elhein into the clouds, a small city less than a mile across, a final attempt to preserve her people. Elhein was blessed with a pure neverending supply of water, good health, and adequate harvest-bearing soil.
After the village was raised safely into the sky the Goddess returned to the surface world, with a final determination to end the Demon race. She was never seen or heard from again.
The people of Elhein were devastated by her disappearance and mourned until their last days. A small handcrafted statue of their Goddess was placed on a small island in the center of a lake they called The Lake of the Goddess, where individuals would worship frequently.
The people of the floating city lived happily for many generations and passed down their belief and love for the Goddess, but eventually over time, the knowledge of the surface world ceased, as if they were the only people in existence. However, one family in the village was entrusted to pass down the secrets of the hidden world, along with a sword gifted to the family which held the spirit of the very powerful Demon, Zolhorn.
Our story begins 300 years after Elhein was lifted into the clouds. Demons have discovered the floating island and persistently send small bat-like creatures to terrorize them at night. The Academy of Defense was created so that the people of Elhein would have protection from the monsters, but it did not stop the growing number of Demons that attacked the village at night.
Knights in the school are trained in swordsmanship, archery, and a variety of fighting techniques so that they can keep the village safe. Two young men patrol the island at night to ensure safety, and so far have been successful in the protection of their town.
However, our story begins where the success ends, and a young man is thrown into a mission to cleanse his body and soul, and to save a young woman whom he loves. This tale was passed down from generation to generation but eventually, like the surface world's existence, was forgotten. His story was lost to the curse of time. So, I am here to remind others of the protector of the human race and his story.
