Flies and the Chasms

Mouths open wide to catch flies,
I too keep mine ajar, seeking to grasp
What has slipped through my fingers for far too long.
What lingers now is a taste of nothingness-
A foul emptiness, yet somehow,
Even these disgusting flies intrigue me.
To find taste, even in the grotesque,
Is to awaken to life once more.
