It was like any other normal day. Twelve year old Michelle and her cousin, Kuro, were playing in the backyard of their house. The kids' parents were chatting with each other on the front porch, bickering and watching as the younger ones in the family ran and played on the grass.

Just then, Michelle accidentally threw a rock at Kuro as a joke, hitting his head. The latter cried and his parents, as well as Michelle's, rushed to his side within an instant.

"My baby!" Kuro's mother screamed. She hugged her son and glared at the now scared Michelle. "How could you?!"

Michelle gave her a guilty expression. "Tita, I-"

The girl was interrupted by the booming voice of her father.

"Go to your room, Michelle," the man spat out. "You are grounded."

The said child looked at him with watery eyes, about to cry because of guilt, shame, and embarrassment.

Kuro hiccupped as he kept crying, the eleven year old burying his face in his mother's shoulder, his tears staining her shirt.

Michelle ran into the house and up the stairs, tumbling and tripping a few times, and locked herself in her room. She cried, muffling her sobs with her pillow. She stayed in her room until it was night. What choice did she have?

After a short while, she heard a deep rumble of thunder. Huh, she didn't know there was going to be a storm today. She swung her legs and sat up. The girl pulled her curtains open and peeked out the window, only to find no rain but a gigantic whirlpool of black and purple in the sky.

Michelle gasped in amazement and shock. What was that? Some kind of tornado? Hurricane? Whirlpool in the sky?

Her thoughts were quickly cut off by the same rumble, this time louder. Michelle backed off from the window and ran down the stairs to where her family was huddling in the living room.

"What the heck is happening?!" Kuro's father cried out.

Michelle's own father didn't even notice her as he hugged Kuro instead, as if he were his own child. That broke Michelle's heart a bit.

"Don't worry, Kuro. Tito's here," okay, that did more than just break her heart. It was completely shattered.

Hesitantly, Michelle took a step forward, only for another rumble to interrupt. The ground shook, causing her, who was still standing, to collapse. Her back hit the cold concrete floor and she yelped.

Her family didn't notice her still and hugged each other, their backs facing Michelle.

"Mama-" the latter tried to call out, only for her cries to get drowned by the family's own screams of horror. The whirlpool outside grew bigger in size and...things started to turn into dust.

The roof of the house as well as the ceiling turned into dust within seconds. Kuro looked up and gasped, his eyes wide. The gigantic whirlpool was destroying the whole city!

The table beside Michelle vanished as well. She yelped and backed up until she felt her mother's back against hers.

She almost cried in relief as her mother hugged her tight.

"Michelle! Are you alright?" The mother's eyes darted around her daughter's body as she tried to look for any injuries.

Michelle nodded her head as she hugged her mother back. "Yeah..." She sniffled. "I- I'm fine..."
