Once, I called upon the world

Flowers, old painting, the smell of grass.

There was an overgrown villa hidden inside a place no human can reach, sealed off from the rest of the world with an omnipotent chant.

But like a joke, a man with a long black robe and the sound of bell in each of his movements pass through it.

He looked at the place, empty and solely blocked off from the ever changing world.

He can't let go of it. He can't let people touch or change what it was once was.

His eyes looked up at the villa. Over time, nature took over it. It was sad somewhat.

Brown-redish pupils stayed for awhile, calm, and no emotion apparent on the once sharp eyes. The dull shaped turns firm, and he lowers his head before walking out.

Not even he is allowed to change the place he called home thousands of years ago. Not when he can see the marks of sword on the training ground, the roses that grown over the pillars, the almost run-down chemist lab, and the three piggy-banks on the window sill.

He can't risk changing the last memory of his family.

He just can't.

'Ha.. unlucky bastard.'

He didn't turn back even as he heard, or at least he thought he did hear, a familiar voice.

'Human! We thought you're sick! Don't sleep all day!'

'That's right, nya!'

'You shouldn't be lazy, nya.'

No matter how painful.

'Cale-nim, I'm thinking of making a memento for our family.'

No matter how precious.

'Dongsaeng, sorry. I'll give you a gold plaque if that means you forgive me.'

Even if they joke it up.

'Roksoo, no, Cale. Forget the promise you made me, live happily, and don't get stuck on the past.'

Even if he lose them again.

'I'll stay with you. For eternity.'

Even if it's an impossible request.

'Young master, don't mind this old servant.'

Even if...

'Young master, I do not regret following you into the surface. I do not regret seeing the world.'

No matter...

'Son, we're happy as long as you're happy.'

How is he supposed to....

'I'm sorry, my child.'

...is it possible?

Cale Henituse. An immortal who had lost everything. His family, friends, allies, acquaintance, country, identity..

A person who has experienced a God period comes to an end.

He sat down outside of the cave.

His hand gripped his thighs, his teeth gritted, and his lips pressed together.

Everything.

He had lost everything.

What is the purpose of his wealth if he had no one to share and use them for?

What is the use of his prestige if he was not gonna protect his people?

What's the use of everything if nobody even lived with him?

...Time is a cruel weapon.

Cale had taken care of his place, of the villa, of the territory, of the country.. until it all changed. It was a long change, but gradually, Cale was nothing but a stranger.

How can he live? No. How can he love?

His heart has forgotten what it was like to make a new connection, a new relationship.

His heart and mind hung on the past.

A repeat of his once perfect dream.

A rich slacker with his family.

Now, it all has crumbled, dissipated as time erased all sense of familiarity and acquaintance to the reality of Cale.

"Even a God has been released. Why am I trapped?"

Cale looked down on his palm. Red seemed to cover his vision. His hand gripped his head and hair, not quite pulling, but unkind.

The annoying and irresponsible God had been taken off of his duty, and Choi Jung Soo can't accompany him.

His mouth is full of frustration. He was borderline going crazy. Records after records, his mind is now a vast and untidy mess.

Cale took off his hood and opened the pouch under his satchel, he rummage through a few items and pulled out a metal rod, and directed it to his eye-

Clang, clang

A chime, a beautiful crisp chime of metal bell hitting one another.

Cale stayed still for a moment. His gaze headed to the bells on his arms and legs.

The bells look shiny, jingling in each move, a gold material, and the finest engraved message on each one of them.

Among the many, one of them caught his attention. The first part of the text was scratched off, but he could read the rest.

.........Enjoying the small joys of life. Living a peaceful life.

He stared at it agonizingly long. He knew the first part of the message, it was, "Living life without pain."

Cale knows. He was the one to say it after all.

He wonders if his old self would find this situation as ironic as he does.

A caged bird that will never die.

Cale's hand lowered as he put back the metal rod on his satchel. He ignores the bells and the various messages left by the people he once adored.

Cale Henituse is so tired.

He inhaled and sighed.

"Hey. I know you can hear me. I changed my mind."

He muttered, not moving at all as he spoke. Cale looked at nothing.

"I'll take up your offer."

Cale closed his eyes as the wind blowed to his face. He didn't care what the world wanted to say or what the condition of jumping to help another world was.

He just wants to escape. To forget. To ignore and to feign ignorance.

His hand touched the bells surface once again. It was enchanted with magic and blessing. No matter what, it would not be damaged.

It will serve as his reminder, as his haven in hard time.

And as a shackle.
