Melissa's POV
.
Today is September 4th
And my mom officially told me that she was tired of handling my nonsense.
Not exactly in those words, but she told me that my grandpa died many years ago and that I should get over it. She said 'Your dad was his son and he got over it 8 years ago, and you were his granddaughter. Of course you can get over it too'.
But she doesn't get it, it's not the same. He was different with me, he was my friend.
And that's the reason why I'm currently sitting on a chair waiting for my new therapist to call me.
This is my first ever therapy session.
'Melissa Romano'. I hear a soft, female voice call me from the other side of the room, and I see the woman that's supposed to be my therapist, Dr. Johnson.
'Welcome, is this your first ever therapy session?' She asks
I nod.
'Okay, follow me' She says
And I do, I follow her in her office, it's actually not as i expected, there are two couches and a table in the middle of the room and 5 shelves full of books, not therapy books, actual fantasy and romance books, I see titles like the 'shatter me' series and 'A thousand boy kisses'.
'I see that you have an interest in books, am I wrong?' I hear Dr Johnson say from behind one of the couches.
'Yes, I quite like reading' I try to smile.
'Okay, why don't you sit down?' she smiles and points at the couch in front of her, and I sit.
'Have you read any of the books on the shelves there?' She asks, still smiling.
I nod.
'Do you want to tell me which ones?'
I nod. 'So' This time I actually smile 'I've read the shatter me series, The powerless series and 'a thousand boy kisses, it was so sad.'
'I agree,' Dr Johnson says. Suddenly, her smile changes.. 'Do you want to talk about your grandpa?'
I knew it, after all, aren't we at therapy?
'He died ten years ago' I begin talking about everything, from how he predicted the fact that I was a girl to the last dream i've had about him, when he said 'I will always be with you'
When we're done, I feel like I'm gonna throw up.
I can actually see some tears in Dr. Johnson's eyes.
'Okay, Melissa, I'm so sorry, but the session is over' She says. 'But I've loved having you, I suppose I'll see you next week?'
I nod 'Thanks, see you next time' And I leave the office.
I didn't want my mother to come pick me up, despite how much I love her. I asked Michael to come pick me up because I know that he's the only friend that can lighten my mood right now, and he's also my only friend who has a car.
'Hey, how'd It go?' he asks. 'You didn't kill her.... Right?
I Zone out.
'Mel, are you okay?' He asks.
