Today many Gods no longer roam on Earth and if they do, they are often causing havoc. After a millennium of watching these lessers, why would they want to bother living among them? Prey only plays with their food so long before feasting.
Hades, however, is tired of the underworld. Who wants to live in Hell and torture people endlessly? Well, Hades didn't mind actually. He just needed to come up on a mission. A mission that bored him: Zeus suspects something wrong and sends Hades on what he believes might be a stupid game, birth from Zeus's boredom.
