Sunoo had never found a single redeeming quality about Riki. Sure, the guy was tall, athletic, and had half the school swooning over him, but as far as Sunoo was concerned, Riki was the single most infuriating person on the planet. They were complete opposites—Sunoo was witty, sharp-tongued, and had a flair for making Riki look like a fool in front of everyone. Meanwhile, Riki always seemed unbothered, a slight smirk tugging at his lips whenever Sunoo tried to take him down a peg.

But today, Sunoo was ready to put Riki in his place once and for all. He saw Riki lingering in the hallway after class, leaning casually against a locker, looking like he owned the place. Sunoo rolled his eyes as he marched up to him, his mind already formulating a dozen snappy comebacks.

“Riki,” Sunoo called out with a saccharine smile, his voice dripping with sarcasm, “you seem lost. Looking for the principal's office? I’d love to direct you there so they can teach you some manners.”

Riki’s eyes, dark and intense, flicked over to him with a glint of amusement. “Sunoo, always so worried about me. It’s cute.”

Sunoo scoffed, his cheeks warming a little despite himself. “I’m not worried about you. I just think the school would be a better place if you weren’t around acting like you own it.”

Riki pushed himself off the locker, stepping closer until Sunoo had to crane his neck slightly to meet his gaze. Sunoo’s pulse quickened, but he quickly buried that under a mask of annoyance.

“Admit it,” Riki said, his voice low enough that only Sunoo could hear, “you’d be bored if I wasn’t here to rile you up.”

Sunoo’s eyes widened, and for a split second, he didn’t know what to say. Was Riki actually flirting with him? That thought was absurd; Riki only ever wanted to get under his skin. He could feel his heart racing in response, but there was no way he was going to let Riki know that.

“Please,” Sunoo said, rolling his eyes, “I’m only here because someone has to keep you in check.”

Riki smirked, and the corners of his lips turned up in a way that was almost smug. “Then you better stick around, because I’m not going anywhere.”

Later that day, Sunoo found himself in the library, trying to focus on his homework. But even the quiet of the library couldn’t drown out his thoughts of Riki, that infuriating, insufferable idiot who somehow managed to invade his every thought. He hated that he couldn’t stop thinking about the way Riki had looked at him earlier, as if Sunoo was the only person in the room.

Lost in thought, he didn’t notice Riki slipping into the chair across from him until the tall boy cleared his throat.

“What do you want now?” Sunoo whispered, his heart skipping a beat as he looked up. “Following me around to annoy me?”

Riki shrugged, looking completely unbothered as usual. “Maybe. Or maybe I just like watching you.”

Sunoo’s face flushed as he narrowed his eyes. “Are you done? I’m busy.”

Riki leaned in closer, a playful glint in his eyes. “Don’t pretend you don’t like it. You get all flustered whenever I’m around.”

Sunoo scowled, his cheeks betraying him by turning pink. “I am not flustered.”

Riki chuckled softly, reaching out to brush a stray hair from Sunoo’s face. Sunoo froze, his heart pounding as he felt Riki’s fingertips graze his skin. It was a gesture so soft and gentle, completely unlike the Riki he was used to.

They locked eyes, and in that moment, all of the tension between them—the teasing, the arguing, the bickering—melted away, leaving only an undeniable pull between them. Sunoo swallowed, his breath hitching as Riki’s face came even closer, their noses almost touching.

“Riki…” Sunoo murmured, his voice barely a whisper.

Riki’s eyes softened, his hand still lingering on Sunoo’s cheek. “Sunoo, I don’t hate you. I just…” He hesitated, his voice low and uncertain. “I don’t know how else to get close to you.”

Sunoo’s heart swelled, his previous irritation replaced by something warmer, something that made him feel vulnerable. “Maybe next time, try saying something nice instead of acting like a jerk.”

Riki chuckled, his breath warm against Sunoo’s skin. “Maybe I’ll try that.”

And before Sunoo could respond, Riki closed the small gap between them, his lips brushing gently against Sunoo’s. It was soft, tentative, as if he was waiting for Sunoo to push him away. But Sunoo didn’t. Instead, he leaned in, letting himself melt into the kiss, forgetting all their arguments and differences, if only for a moment.

When they finally broke apart, Sunoo felt dazed, his mind reeling as he looked up at Riki.

“So…” Riki said, smirking. “Am I still your enemy?”

Sunoo laughed, rolling his eyes even as his cheeks flushed. “Only if you keep acting like one.”

Riki grinned, his hand finding Sunoo’s under the table, their fingers interlocking.

“Guess I’ll just have to work on that.”
